I was looking for a unique Christmas gift for my wife Emilee and saw Joaselyn on Cozymeals. I wrote to request the class and explained that I am a "baboon with a knife" and that may be an insult to baboons the world over. I am a bit intimidated by kitchens and cooking, but she quickly accepted my request and I was excited about the class.
Emilee and I were warmly greeted at the door by Joaselyn and her amazing canine friend, Petra. Don't worry, Petra will go and do her own thing if you aren't into dogs, but we love animals, so she was an absolute treat. Joaselyn immediately made felt at ease. Her apartment is beautiful and welcoming. The table was set, there was a full menu on the fridge along with the steps. She gave us an overview of what we were to do and we were off.
In my estimation, Joaselyn really did it "right". For an accomplished chef, it would be easy to step in, but she would say "Ken, you're going to start by...." and allowed me the opportunity to actually work through my tasks, and did the same for Emilee, who is a pretty good cook herself. She explained every step, why you do it and for how long. She explained how ingredients interact and what flavors can be brought out and how. The dishes came together beautifully and the finished tapas were incredibly delicious, if I may say so.
We sat down to dine on our creations, and Joaselyn joined us, but didn't eat. Was she silently saying "I'm not eating anything he cooked"? No, I'm sure she eats enough of these. Joaselyn is a wonderful conversationalist, is well-traveled and it seemed like we were with an old friend. We had a fantastic time and this Christmas gift was one we'll remember for the rest of our lives. I cannot recommend Joaselyn highly enough. She is a wonderful chef and human being. We look forward to cooking at her place again.
The food tasted as good as it looked and it looks like Emilee...
Read moreWe recently had the pleasure of attending a team-building cooking class with Paul, and I can't recommend it highly enough! From the moment we arrived, the experience was engaging, fun, and welcoming. Paul and Bre were super kind and knowledgeable but also incredibly personable, guiding us through each recipe with patience and enthusiasm (even cutting of veggies for us newcomers!)
What made this class truly outstanding was how seamlessly it fostered collaboration within our team. As we chopped, sautéed, and plated our dishes (they offered vegetarian options which was very thoughtful), we had the opportunity to support each other in a relaxed, hands-on environment. It was a perfect blend of creativity and teamwork. Everyone loved it!
Not only did we walk away with delicious dishes to enjoy (few takeout containers), but we also strengthened bonds within our team, learning valuable skills both in and out of the kitchen. If you're looking for a unique, enjoyable, and productive way to bring your team together, this cooking class is an absolute must!
We were celebrating 3 team members birthdays as well and they brought out special candles for our team! 10/10 experience! We will...
Read moreDid the vegan Spanish feast with my sister and cousins, we had a great time. Chef Jamie was super chill and funny, and made the whole thing feel easy and fun. The food turned out amazing. That pisto with the bread? so good, and the sweet potato and bean filling for the empanadas? I’d eat that by itself, honestly. We thought we might leave a little hungry, but we were actually so full we were lowkey fighting to keep eating, we ended up taking the rest home. The kitchen had plenty of space for all of us to get involved. We each got the chance to chop, stir, pour, and season throughout the whole process. We were asking chef all kinds of questions about how to minimize food waste, proper knife techniques, the best ways to store produce, and just about Chef’s life and how she got into being a private chef. Also, random, but chef’s bathroom? Beautiful, skylight and all. The whole place had a peaceful vibe. Shoes off at the door, leave that outside energy where it belongs. Would 100% recommend if you’re looking for a chill, fun experience to do with friends, pick up a few new tricks, and enjoy some really good food along the...
