LIGHTS, MUSIC & CYCLE, BABY!
I was so delighted to be invited to the CycleBar New York, to Rock The Ride, as they say … I guess my hard core cycling reputation got around town !
As a journalist cum cyclist this was a fabulous way to start my day in keeping with my cycling routine of decades …
What struck me about this fabulous Upper East Side rhythm cycling location was the infectious enthusiasm and energy of their reception staff and all training staff. How warm, welcoming plus professional they were to members and newcomers.
The cycling centre is pretty much configured and designed like most cycling facilities I’ve been too. Nothing fancy but clean and comfortable.
I cycle like a banshee, often doing two to three classes per day, so I know if a cycling operation is a good thing and a worthwhile workout. CycleBar absolutely is …
What I liked about my workout with their instructor Lynsey, over and above her innate ability as a trainer, was her warmth and friendliness as a cycling coach plus the use of a bar/ baton as a weight arm training technique. I’d never experienced this baton training technique before in all my decades of spinning. It was innovative and refreshing. My triceps were lapping it up! I’ll be back for more with Cycle Bar for sure …
A few other things I like about this cycle center are: their in-house cycle shoes being provided on the spot. Saves you lugging your own pair around the city, plus they have small sizes for petite feet like mine. Plus they have gyms all over the city from downtown to uptown (Upper East Side, Noho, Nomad and FlatIron) so pick your cycle spot in the city and rhythm ride with CycleBar.
CycleBars class packages range from USD 49 (for a three pack new riders pass) to USD 279 for a one month unlimited ride.
I wholeheartedly recommend this fitness center to you. They’ll spin you right round into shape in no time with a smile and exceptional professionalism! Cycle on with me - and with...
Read moreNot a place for health care workers. Not sure if this is race related. I am a physician on call. I received messages on my Apple watch about a patient and was screening the messages ON MY WATCH. Lauren, an instructor at this location, patronized me twice on the microphone in front of the class of almost 50 participants to the extent that I had to yell over the music that I am a physician on call. I can’t believe I was YELLED at by an instructor to leave a dark room clipped into a bike with no support staff when I am responding to an emergent need at work as a healthcare worker on my watch. The management downplayed the issue in multiple ways, trying to justify her behavior based on her “rigorous training” to discourage cell phone use in the class. THIS WAS AN APPLE WATCH.
Disgusting experience, disgusting service. Highly recommend against this brand and especially the location and instructor. Not worth the money spent on a membership.
And looking into this further, CycleBar DOES, in fact, encourage Apple Watch use to promote purchase of the watch through the company.
I wonder now if I was actually singled out and scrutinized by this instructor because I was the only colored person in the room as I usually am in this location. I otherwise do not see why, if other members have devices and are possibly using them, I would be called out and humiliated versus the other members especially when I am not defying any policy against using an...
Read moreOne word Transformative! Okay so in detail I just did one class and overall it is an intensive workout. I can see it being a quick remedy for toned thighs for me personally as I am 5-5 with a bit more weight to my bottom and legs so the bike was a bit uncomfortable for my bottom to say the least it is adjustable for my height. The music is very motivational. The instructor was cool, she seemed to be in-tuned with all the cyclist and making it encouraging for my pace. I popped in for my first ride so I’m not sure what level I did as Dani basically did everything for me including greeting me pleasantly, checking me in, providing the shoes/towel and selecting the bike which I was directed to tune throughout cycling. I can say everyone was on track and on high energy. I was able to use my neighbor in front and next to me as a guide because it was a bit hard for me to hear the instruction and keep up. The results are shown on the bike and on the stat board above the instructor. The class was pretty much full house. I have no complaints and a membership is worthy if your into cycling as an exercise and this is coming from a beginner whom hasn’t rode a bike in...
