As a frequent and loyal client of David Yurman, I have always admired the exceptional quality of their pieces and the welcoming service Iāve consistently experienced at various locations. However, my recent visit to the flagship store at 5 East 57th Street, New York, left me deeply disappointed.
On Thursday, December 12, around 5-6 PM, I visited the store with a friend to inquire about the holiday pop-up event featuring hand-painted cards and hot chocolate. Upon arrival, a blonde associate with a low slicked-back bun informed us that the event would take place the following day. While I appreciated her providing that information, the subsequent interaction was both uncomfortable and unprofessional.
As I began browsing, I was stopped before heading upstairs and asked if I had visited this location before. When I mentioned it was my first time, she felt compelled to point out that the upstairs section featured āmore expensive piecesā along with bridal and menās items on the third floor. I politely thanked her and continued to head upstairs, but she stopped me once more, questioning if I needed assistance with those particular pieces. Her tone and demeanor suggested a lack of trust in my presence, and I was made to feel unwelcome, as though I didnāt belong. The pointed stare and dismissive head tilt as she seemed to encourage me to leave was beyond uncalled for.
This experience starkly contrasts with the warm, respectful service Iāve come to expect from David Yurman. Iāve shopped at multiple locations with my mother, and weāve always been treated with the utmost courtesy. This particular associateās behavior was degrading and condescending, leaving me feeling incredibly uncomfortable.
David Yurman is a brand that has always been synonymous with elegance and hospitality. I hope this incident is addressed, as such treatment does not align with the high standards associated with the brand. For now, Iāll certainly avoid this location and continue to shop at others where I feel respected as a...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreMy fiancĆ© and I were looking for the menās collection, someone came up to us and told us it was on the 3rd floor. He was very nice and accommodating. Helped us with the first piece that we were looking at. But he introduced us to an associate who will be assisting us further. She was wearing eyeglasses, seemed okay. But she did not have good customer service. At one point, my fiancĆ© was struggling a bit to lock a necklace and she was just staring at him. I had my hands full at that time cause I had his coat and bag with me but I ended up locking it for him. The associate didnāt talk at all. And when we asked about another necklace, she just told us the price and didnāt bother to offer for us to try it. She just looked at the price and figured we were done for the day. She really made us feel very uncomfortable like we didnāt belong there. Maybe because we said the $25,000 necklace was above our price point or maybe because weāre Asians, Iām not sure. Because after us, she went in to help other white guys and was very cheerful. And when we asked another associate to check on a bracelet, they had to call her again since she was the one helping us earlier. She didnāt seem happy that we were still there. She took the bracelet out and handed it to us without saying a word. While we were trying it, she wasnāt even looking at us perhaps not wanting to say anything because she knew she wouldnāt make a sale. She clearly did not want to deal with us. But if she was good at her job, the bracelet that we were looking at was affordable to me and I would have bought it for my fiancĆ© if only she tried to sell it to us. But the associate just doesnāt seem to care at all. She was not accommodating and Iāve never felt so uncomfortable in a luxury store. Weāve been to a few around the area and when you have a very good sales associate, sometimes the items that arenāt within your budget...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreJust can't get over how this place made us feel. It's like a bad taste that is left in your mouth and no matter how many times you try to rinse it off, you just can't get rid of it. Wish it was possible to give this place a "Zero Star" !
My fiancƩ and I went there yesterday with so much excitement to pick up his wedding band but came out from the store with tears in my eyes.
First of all, we sent "Abigail, Roston" an email exactly at 1:03pm stating we shall be there around 5pm to pick up our item, we walked inside the store and asked for Abigail but were confused as to what happened to her, with no explanation saying either she's not in the store or maybe busy with other clients, some young man came from the back and handed us a clear plastic bag stating the ring is inside. JUST WOW šš¤¦š¼š„ŗš¤·š
So, basically they just handed us a David Yurman product with such sentimental value in a clear zip lock bag, which made the value of the product to be no more than $30-50 or maybe even less, and now I'm confused as to what did I pay for? ( a wedding band that costs about $30-50? But why was I charged $3810.63 ????!!!!!!!!! )
We are very disappointed with this experience. I never imagined that an established brand like David Yurman with such a focus on exquisite designs and craftmanship would fail miserably on the part that does not cost anything but leaves a lasting impression, "the delivery". This was supposed to be our special moment to carry it with us for the rest of our lives. Unfortunately, this specific location (5 E 57th St, New York, NY 10022) made us feel very little.
I just wish I took a picture of the plastic bag (wedding band inside wrapped with another plastic bag) and spoke to a manager without leaving the...
