Designlush — Local services in New York

This is, without a doubt, the worst and most arrogant company I have dealt with. Order placed in April of 2022 with a 12-16 week lead time and a 50% deposit up front (check only, no credit cards accepted, hmmm). Check cashed immediately but 16 weeks later, no sign of the product and ZERO communication about it. This cannot be blamed on supply chain issues because those have alleviated, and they were built into the initial timeframe anyhow. When finally reaching Stephen Mitchell via my decorator, his response was as follows: "Your client has no reason to be mad - other than not understanding this process. Please explain to them the situation and that these are hand-made goods coming from another country - not an Amazon purchase! I will let you know when the expected finish date is so we can take care of the final balance and don't lose any time with that." That is his direct quote. And by the way, this is on a $10,000 purchase. This was in August. Well, another 5 months later, many ignored phone calls, emails and lame excuses, cashing my second (and final) check over a month ago the product finally arrived today, January , 2023 (an additional 5 months late). No apology, just pretentious arrogance. I would avoid this company. The whole process was sketchy from the start and their attitude is not deserving of your business.

P.S. I was told this product was hand made in Italy, however when received, it clearly said that it was both manufactured in and shipped from the...

If I could give no stars I would. I'm an interior designer and placed an order for a desk w/ Stephen @Designlush and he was quick to deposit the check as soon as he received it. Unfortunately, he didn't place the order for another 2.5months.

I called numerous times over the summer to check status and finally when he didn't respond, I reached out to the manufacturer in early Oct and they confirmed the order wasn't placed until months after Stephen cashed my deposit check.

When I confronted Stephen and told him I wanted to be compensated for the two month delay, he denied my request and then ultimately canceled my order when it was ready to finally ship mid-Nov. He rattled off a host of untruths---quoted production time at 16 weeks, when actually it was 7-8, COVID slow downs, work room closings, materials needed. The manufacturer confirmed all were not true. In addition, they confirmed that they requested final payment from Designlush on the desk in early Nov and the balance had still not been paid by late Nov.

It's been over a week since he claimed he was returning my deposit check. Basically, he stole my money for over five months by never providing a product. His business practices are VERY unethical and unprofessional. I found other similar reviews online. Highly do NOT recommend Stephen at...
