We had an amazing experience working with Jarema and Adam and their team. The process went so smoothly from beginning to end. It started with a meeting to talk about our goals for the backyard as well as our budget. They delivered a couple of design options based on our initial feedback as well as our site specific conditions. They were so thoughtful about every detail, paying close attention to the specific shade conditions in our yard, the location of big roots, where we needed privacy, and the recommendation to remove an invasive species of tree that was causing problems for our yard. They were so easy to collaborate with and very flexible and open to our ideas.

Once we nailed down the design direction, they shared options for specific plantings and were again very open to feedback about what we did and did not like (we liked 99% of what they suggested!). They also made furniture and lighting suggestions to pull the whole space together. When it came time for the build, they hired a team of hardscapers, who were also amazing to work with.

Jarema and Adam were present on site during the build to make sure it was executed to plan and addressed any issues that came up in the field. They also coordinated the installation of lighting and an irrigation system. The actual planting also went so smoothly. They brought in trees, plants and shrubs, incorporated some potted pieces and even relocated one existing flowering tree we wanted to keep. The result is beyond our expectations. Our previous yard of dirt that was unable to grow even one blade of grass is now a thriving and magical garden oasis. We absolutely love spending time in our backyard. It feels like our own private botanic garden.

Jarema and Adam are also maintaining the garden and have taken care of it beautifully. It’s so exciting to see all the different textures and colors and see different plants flower at different times so there is always something interesting to look at. They were just so thoughtful about every detail, and it really shows.

Jarema and Adam of Dirt Queen NYC transformed my backyard garden into a relaxing oasis for entertaining and daily enjoyment and perked up my front plant bed to be a lovely complement to my townhouse stoop and entrance. It was such a good experience every step of the way. First, they listened carefully to my goals, ideas, and budget. Then they followed up with a backyard garden proposal that took everything into account including my desire for mostly native plants that require less maintenance. They even helped me think a couple years into the future about how the backyard would evolve over time. They were extremely attentive and open to feedback throughout the process. On installation day, they were on time and efficient, following up with care instructions. They continue to be responsive and helpful as questions come up and the plants develop further.
