Duane Reade — Local services in New York

Terrible, I’m an employee from another store trying to use my store discount to get my siblings some water and the manager denied to enter the employee discount manually. Then further saying it’s only 89 cents. As a manager sales are your priority there’s no reason why you’ve denied me of my employee discount at all whether it’s just 89 cents or 89 dollars. Not only was I denied something that was rightfully mine I was told that my nails were to long and I wasn’t typing in my number right. After that she then instructed my sibling to enter the number on the pin pad ( his nails were trimmed) she still denied me my discount. I told her multiple times my zip code doesn’t work. She didn’t try to see my state ID which will have the same name address and zip code that’s in the system. There were no accommodations. This happened between 4:50pm and 5:05 on May 5th and she had blonde / brown hair. With this review I hope that the manager in this store would improve on their costumer service because it was disgusting. I’d never ever come back here for...

One of the cashiers here is terribly rude and my experience here completely ruined my day.

I went here to pick up a cable that I ordered online, and she insisted that my order didn’t go through and I was wrong. I showed my e-receipt and then she started to check the record again and she found out my order was there. She told me that the order wasn’t ready yet so she needs to go get the item from the isle. It was a simple process for her, but she decided to talk to other employees when walking there and walking back. I heard them talking since I was standing next to her and I could not understand why she was having unnecessary conversation in the middle. Without any exaggeration, I had to stand there and wait for her to finish for little more than 5 minutes.

It really ruined my day and she is the only reason why I don’t go to Duane Reade in union square.

My friend also experienced similar problem with the same employer, and really couldn’t understand how she’s not getting fired with that...

I rarely go to this branch because I find service hardly to be reliable. Except when I came in on July 3 and pickup a brace for Carpal tunnel and other item, I had the most exceptional service and attention by this young man supervisor by the name of JONY. I was shocked that his quick attention (the old man at the cashier was fluent in English and was not able to assist me to my needs). I have been a customer of Duane Reade since its inception in Manhattan and Queens (20 + years) for my medication and will continue to be loyal to this institution. Congratulations for having an exemplar's employee like JONY. My branch, since I returned to NY after being abroad, is 14th/3rd Ave which will remain in record with my hospital Mount Sinai and the attending healthcare physicians.
