Horrifying experience: Riders beware: The 4:27 NY Waterway Ferry departing DUMBO to Midtown today was just involved in a serious accident. The captain was speeding out of control and the boat slammed sideways into the dock in Greenpoint. There was an explosion of concrete from the dock when it hit and it went crashing against the windows - cracking them - right where I was seated with my daughter. We had to duck for cover. Not a single announcement from the crew was made to address the issue, even though it was necessary for one of them to put on a life vest and do an inspection of the damage to the boat. When I approached a crew member to ask what was going on, he actually tried to laugh it off. When we arrived at the next stop in Long Island City - we hit the dock again! That was enough. We got off the ferry at that stop - not our destination, but for fear the ferry and its captain were not sound. I immediately called NY Waterway to report the accident - they were closed. Not even an emergency operator was available to take my...
Read moreTook the ferry for the first time ever and was truly excited until I got to this location. I had asked someone at the window which line was for the dumbo/fulton stop and he said line 3. There was one line that was actively moving and just a group of people in the front. No line formed just a group of people. When I got to the moving line I asked again the two employees in the front and they kindly told me I was on the wrong line. I informed them that the gentleman with short hair in the front told me the wrong line. Shortly after he came out and started directing people to the boat that had just arrived. He then looked at me and tried to mimicked my voice in saying the question that I had originally asked him. I guess someone told him what I said which I don’t care but that’s no way to treat a customer. It was childish, when I came back hours later from Brooklyn I said thank you and have a good evening and he completely ignored me. Please hire people who actually want to help and...
Read moreHorrible. Limited staff. No one knows what’s going on. Waited in line for 1 hour for the Wall Street ferry near the front of a line with between 200 and 300 people. One ferry came in and could only take 20 people. The next ferry was hidden from view on the north side of the ticket stand and took about 15 people from a different line that did not list Wall Street as a destination. One person working for nyc ferry did not walk down the adjoining long line I was in but called out to the front of the line that the hidden from view short line ferry was going to Wall Street. I rushed to that ferry and another employee locked the gate and the ferry with the short line left about 1/3 filled going to Wall Street. The employee who called out last minute to the front of the line that a mostly empty ferry was leaving said it was not his job to let people in the line that now stretched two blocks know that other ferries were...
