Ok, I am about to write a review based on my experience of working out in this gym. Things I like : My personal trainer Adam , who is super people person , very friendly , caring about his clients , very knowledgeable in his job. Everytime I come in he has a big smile on his face and crazy work out routine ready for me!
I do see other personal trainers who have this dead face and act like they have the most miserable job ever . I don’t hear “: Good job! You are killing it ! Wow! Way to go! “ from anyone but my Adam.
I love the kiehls products in the locker rooms and steaming room as well.
My Pilate sessions with Emilie. If you never tried Pilate, you should . It’s a crazy work out and amazing stretch and of course Equinox has all the machines !
Classes. Make sure you are not only sign up for classes online or equinox app, but also ask for a monthly print out for classes that you don’t have to register , you can pick up at front desk. Unfortunately they never mention that to me right away. Also there is a guest pass , I didn’t know about it either .
Overall clean place and juice bar is nice ! After your good work out grab protein shake and you good to go.
Now I’ll write things they may want to work on, and why I didn’t add last star to make it perfect.
Spa was a place that I think I would never comeback again. And my esthetician was good I think, but may be the product she used wasn’t high end or the best. You would think this is a nice spa, but my face stayed red for 3 days and more pimples appeared . After red door spa I never had this outcome from facials.
This gym need to add something fancy and different since people paying so much for membership and complaining here. Because so far is regular gym with classes that just have kiehls products and eucalyptus towels . There is nothing else to attract . May be add some partnership with clothing products and offer discounts , like hey you can get 10% at lululemon if you are an equinox member or something like that.
Many times I would try to pass by or walk through and personal trainers blocking a way , I have to go around. There is no such a courtesy of welcoming and being nice . I don’t know if it’s a New York thing . I literally know only 3 personal trainers who smile and always friendly , others always rude and never smile or look happy, they look stock up , and that’s not really attractive . We are clients and we are paying a lot of money to join the gym and be in a better shape, coming from whatever place , either is work or other stressful environment we want to see fit people that having fun at work ! Sometimes I see people (gym members) take our equipments when I work with Adam but yet he still being so polite and compliment them on their work out .just simple manners . I don’t know , may be give them coffee on a house or free breakfast to cheer up your employees. Because all I think of , they probably hate their job because job hates them. I got lucky with Adam and Emilie ! And I would recommend them to all my friends...
Read moreThis is honestly the worst equinox facility I have been to, and it's supposed to by my "home" gym. I come here about once a month, and am always disappointed. About half the lockers in the women's locker room do not work, so you have to invest about five minutes trying to find a place to secure your belongings. The shower area is always obscenely wet and is a serious safety hazard. The shower curtains, which are filthy, do not meet the bottom of the shower and so about half the running water creates this hazard. I would like to use the steam room but have slipped in this shower area, which is where the steam room is located, and do not wish to put myself in harm. The mat classes are always really crowded and instructors will actually allow people to come in after class has started, and squeeze in so there isn't even an inch between the two mats. Again, swinging arms in a pilates class or barre class with dumbbells causes a safety hazard. I have been hit with two pound dumbbells or scratched on more than one occasion. I have literally left this gym after planning to take a class, because the mildew smell of the locker room was offensive, I couldn't find a place to secure my belongings or I was worried I might get hit with a dumbbell again. I have tried working out on my own, but a trainer has followed me around on the two times I worked out on my own. His staring and following me around made me extremely uncomfortable the first time, and I completely stopped working out on my own there after he actually e-mailed me for a training session. I hate this gym. And people at the front desk always mess up my name. My name is Jennifer and it's in my account as Jennifer. If you can't pronounce it, just say welcome and don't...
Read moreHi! I'm a big fan of Equinox and visit it almost daily.
Equinox has always been about quality and the best customer service. For that reason, it's even more disappointing to encounter such a dismissive attitude at the 74th location.
My wife, friend, and I came to the club, and I had a scheduled class. I wanted them to join me that day since I had five valid guest passes.
When we came in, in the lounge area, we tried to take a seat in the lounge area to charge a phone and decide which class my guests would attend. Right after that, an Equinox employee approached us. There was no greeting, no hi, no smile, nothing like that, just very aggressive behavior. She was mean and just gave us commands in rude form. She said that we MUST sign in. Everyone must sign in before they can stay in the hall. I'm fine with this policy, and I signed in right after, but I'm not OK with how you treat your active and prospective customers.
Upon inquiring further, I was appalled to learn that the employee at Equinox was a sales representative.
If Kelsey McCarthy had represented Equinox when I was considering membership, I would not be a member of Equinox today.
My wife and friend left, without taking the class, as they were visibly shaken.
There's nothing we did at this location that warranted her level of disrespect towards us.
Avoid this Equinox location. Go to one with better...
