I booked a deep condition and made a note that I would like my hair color to be toned. I was never reached out to before my appointment. When I came the stylist was very dismissive, eating food and told me that I booked the wrong service as I would need a glaze. Then she told me she had no time to do any service for me. I would have loved if she offered to wash and condition my hair, but she was extremely rude towards me as I think she was more concerned about her breakfast. I’m happy that I didn’t get any services from her, as she was extremely unprofessional. Do not recommend.
Replying to the horrendous response as it contains lies from the business owner and want customers to be made aware of the type of person they are paying to do their hair. I have never been one to leave a review because I have never experienced such horrible customer service on this level. I arrived on time as I commuted from queens to this appointment. I did not receive any service upon arrival. I was then charged a cancellation when I arrived on time. I noted in my service what I wanted done, choosing the wrong option had absolutely nothing to do with trying to get an appointment, there were plenty of appointments available as I booked this a month in advance. So that’s another lie on top of being late, as well saying that she offered any sort of service. I was then CHARGED A CANCELLATION FEE FOR SHOWING UP AND NOT RECEIVING ANY SERVICE. Any sane person would read that and realize the unprofessionalism of this establishment. When I called to inquire about the charge, the owner hung up (lol). When I called back, she told me “you shouldn’t have left a bad review!” Literally stated that she charged me because I left a review. So I will continue to voice my HORRIBLE experience as it will hopefully save someone else time and money. After speaking with my bank, they could not help but laugh out loud at this charge as it is absolutely ridiculous. That dispute is open and will be resolved shortly. But please, if you value your time, money, and sanity, avoid this salon at all costs.
FINAL UPDATE I got my money back and the bank representative reassured me that karma will come back around to this business owner. I could not agree more! Don’t work in a customer service industry if you are a malicious evil person. Everything I’ve said is true, and the personality can be seen in other review responses from this owner. Unprofessional, rude, and petty. Don’t waste your time...
Read moreThis review for Sharntai Harris/Fabstylist, BKNY has been a long time coming. I visited this salon a couple of weeks ago initially for a consultation & cut. I wanted a new & different haircut --something I could cruise into #HotGurlSummer with & most importantly a cut that I felt confident & beautiful in. At the time, my edges seemed to be thinning on one side & I felt incredibly self sconscious abt & aged by this. In short, my visit to Fabstylist did all of this AND MORE!!
First, when I called the salon to conform my eta, I spoke directly to Sharntai. This, by itself, is impressive. I've had so many experiences where I call the salon & am either treated badly by a receptionist or spoken to rudely by staff that just don't have the same passion for the work as the stylist or entrepreneur. I appreciated speaking directly to the proprietor, Herself.
Second, the salon is GORGEOUS -- the decor, set-up, wall & furniture color, & fresh roses vased throughout the salon all have the feel of 'a place of transformation'. The playlist was everything! I Spotified several songs while under the steamer. The air in the salon smelled luxurious. Everyone that left after their process was very happy with their hair & couldn't wait to come back -- setting up next appointments as they walked out the door. While I waited for my turn in the chair, Sharntai came over, offered me a cold bottle of water, sat with me & asked about my vision of what I had wanted to do with my hair. I shared with her abt my edges, how I wanted to work them into the cut & that I wanted to feel beautiful again in my hair.
Sharntai reached out, examined my hair & let me know that the thinning wasn't that bad. She then shared with me her ideas about the cut & color. At first, I was reluctant to change my color, but Sharntai IS her brand & she is STUNNING. I took the chance AND I COULDNT BE HAPPIER WITH MY HAIR!!
My cut works in my edges seamlessly & showcases everything I love about my hair. Sharntai took me from a jet black to a deep & rich ginger with bronze highlights. I don't know how she did this. Most importantly I feel sexy, beautiful & on-point in my hair. My greatness on the inside matches my greatness on the outside. I will most definitely be back in July, as Sharntai suggested. Thank you...
Read moreOverall the business was very nice and clean. The person I had was very nice. But I have a few cons. Online you should be more descriptive on hair length. Because of all the times I got my hair silk pressed or washed it was never considered long maybe medium if even that. However, she could of cleaned my hair better the wash was not a good wash especially if I supposedly got a treatment. Soap was just put in and it felt like you just wanted to finish quickly because of already having clients. My hair was not detangled from the getting the treatment. ( was combed out after the second rinse with no product ) Usually if I get a treatment I get detangled first then I sit under a steamer to help lock in moisture. Also I noticed you charged me at first $250 due to me needed a cut and a treatment. Then as I’m noticing the process I noticed this wasn’t worth $250 so we negotiated again and it went down to $175 without the cutting, and it still didn’t feel right with me paying that due to the lack of hair wash. Then instead of getting styled I said I’ll take a blow out due to me having a paid reservation to get to. I was charged $105 dollars for a wash and blow that was $50 + $45 dollars for the treatment and my tax was $5 which I don’t understand when you don’t take card and transactions were through Zelle… I also find it ironic that you charged two clients with way longer hair than me $120 and $100 each. Yes I’m aware they didn’t get the treatment. But that still wouldn’t of add up to what you were offering me . If I wasn’t to get the treatment you were still going to charge me over that amount they received and they had way longer hair than mine. I’m disappointed in the service. However I’m not here to bash but you definitely could of done better. And no this is not about money because I paid $200 for a silk presses before. The service was not great it was poor. I just felt like overall my service should of been...
