Flamingo Interpreting is an incredible collective of people who truly care about supporting, and making more accessible, trans and queer events such as “I have a lot to do”: a community tribute to Saint Sylvia Rivera, at which I had the opportunity to work with two Flamingo Interpreting partners that went above and beyond to help make the event a fun success. Both interpreters were on time, friendly, prepared, & showed genuine interest in all of the parts of the event, which meant a great deal to the organizers of the event as well as the broader community that this event was for. Even when the event went over the official end time due to a series of performer mishaps that had nothing to do with the Flamingo Interpreting team, both partners continued to support the event in the ways they could.
In feedback forms I collected from event participants, the partners from Flamingo Interpreting were cited as “so important!” and “extremely helpful, fun to engage with,” so, clearly, Flamingo Interpreting is a major key to putting on a successful, inclusive, accessible, and fun community event!
Thanks so much Flamingo Interpreting for accommodating us, our budget, & our space. We can’t wait to have you...
Read moreI was producing/hosting a musical theatre cabaret in Manhattan and wanted the show to be more accessible, and a Deaf friend recommended Flamingo. I am SO GLAD they did.
The process, from start to finish, was impeccable. Every interaction leading up to the event was incredibly pleasant and supportive, and the day of the show, the only aspect I wasn't nervous about was the interpretation, because I knew I was in good hands.
The two interpreters showed up to the venue incredibly prepared. It was obvious they had prepped sufficiently. Both interpreters, Hailey and Johnny, were a delight to speak with before the event, answering questions I had, and letting me know everything was taken care of.
During the event, the process was seamless. The interpreters didn't miss a beat with the spontaneous dialogue between songs, and for the songs they were provided in advance, their performances were stunning. I was watching the singers as much as I was watching the interpreters.
My Deaf friends felt very taken care of, and after they show, had nothing but compliments for Flamingo Interpreting. I will definitely be using them again...
