I recently had a first time visit and it was brutal, sadly. I was attracted to the great prices and the location so booked a 'muscle massage'. According to their website this implied anything from a "deep tissue massages to prenatal massages". I assumed that they would ask me what I wanted when I arrived. That didn't happen. I was directed to a private room with no instruction but, having been to spas in the past, I knew to undress, hop on the table, and cover up with the sheet. In came the masseuse and she started. No talk. It was brutal. I don't know what kind of massage it was but it was similar to deep tissue. It HURT. I think she finally sensed my pain and she mumbled something and she eased up a bit but she was pinching my tendons in my neck and was very fast, very rough, very hard. I felt like bread dough being kneaded. There wasn't one iota of relaxation or muscle massage. Just pure pain. Yes, maybe I should have said something but that's always awkward. but, yeah, I should have. Whether she would have understood me, I don't know.
Once done, I dressed and proceeded to pay. The guy at the cash didn't understand me when I asked what kind of massage I just had. He looked at me somewhat blankly so I just shrugged and said never mind. I tipped my gal and away I went.
So... be careful. Be sure to clarify what you want to ensure that you receive the appropriate services or you may end up being abused and in pain like I was.
I have learned my lesson and will definitely ask questions prior to treatment.
Other than my experience, the place seemed clean. Prices are...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI've been looking for a place close to home that is affordable, has both chair and table massage options, and a chill vibe. Four Seasons Beauty Spa checks all those boxes!
Their staff is professional and kind, the service is always prompt - whether you have an appointment or not, they are always very accommodating.
I've had a table massage, a chair massage, and a foot rub here. All three were great - my only suggestion is, be sure to tell them upfront how much pressure you want! They are very intense with their massages. My first table massage was way too much pressure and I thought my kidneys were going to explode, but he lightened up the pressure upon request.
I love that I can walk in here for just a foot rub as well when my legs and feet feel worn out - they have over-sized comfortable chairs to relax in, will wash your feet and massage them and send you on your way feeling like you're walking on clouds for the remainder of the day.
Even if you don't have a lot of time, their flexible timing allows you to do as little as 10 mins to up to 90 mins.
They are conveniently located near Columbus Circle too so there are subway and bus stops nearby if you're just passing through and don't live in the area.
Oh - I love that they have a loyalty program! After 10 stamps you receive a reward - that's always a bonus, no pun intended :)
Can't wait to go back when I have more...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreOne of my colleagues/friends/mentors is one of the coolest people that I know, and after stuffing ourselves with hearty fondue on this rainy night, she suggested we get a 15 minute foot massage. I was like what!? A 15 minute food massage!? Where? And she said "a couple of blocks away!" And so of course I agreed, and I stepped into a cute little massage spot with a room full of big comfy chairs. We sat down and had our feet immediately wrapped in hot towels and rubbed on. it was hands down one of the best massages that I have ever gotten! Perfect for a day of trotting around the city. The pressure was perfect, the masseur hit every single one of my 2000 nerve endings in my feet, and it was so good that I told my friend I was going to stay, and proceeded to enjoy another 20 minutes of bliss. The prices are great! It's about $1 a minute plus a small charge for using a CC. I could not recommend this...
