Birch Coffee — Restaurant in New York

So after perhaps months of passing this coffee shop I decided today would be the day to try it. I tried its larger UWS location 2 miles up the road last weekend and loved it. I had dismissed this location for so long because from the outside it is small with bar seating for three. Plus I thought the construction view outside would be uninteresting. Once inside none of those concerns matter. The music from the bookshelf speakers transports you to a cool underground lounge (at least the playlist during today’s visit). And like the UWS location (as I understand it to be the case for all locations), the bookcase includes a bookswap which is highly needed for this neighborhood with no bookstores. That appreciation of books is an invitation to stay and read while sipping on one’s coffee in real china. This coffee shop is simply fantastic! Undoubtedly one of the best coffee spots in Manhattan. Each cup is just perfect - the aroma, the flavor, the texture, all top-notch.

And the freshly baked goods here are just amazing! Pastries, croissants, doughnuts - everything is deliciously crafted with great skill.

But what truly sets this place apart is the atmosphere. The cozy interior, pleasant music, and friendly staff - everything is designed for you to enjoy the moment and feel at ease. It's perfect for a solo morning coffee or catching up with friends.

My husband and I dipped in for a coffee during a sudden rainstorm yesterday and were so impressed that we went back today.

We got drip coffee and a flat white both days. The coffee was the best we’ve had in the city. No frills just delicious, well-made coffee.

Service was so dang fast. Like they were handing it to us when I finished paying!
