My husband and I took dance lessons at Fred Astaire Upper East Side with Elena leading up to our wedding. My husband is definitely not the natural-born dancer and Elena found a way to really not only make him confident in our dance, but he actually turned out to be a great dancer!! She is patient and her energy throughout all 21 lessons was inspiring and so much fun! We knew that each lesson would be an extremely enjoyable time of day, especially with all of the wedding preparation stresses that would arise. Our time with Elena was the best and we are sad to be done with our lessons. On the wedding day, we 100% nailed our dance, which included a dramatic dip and even ended with a lift! We were so happy and received so many compliments on the dance and choreography - thanks to Elena! My fiance and I have been having a great time here. We started off with Boris, who put our arms on each other and started us in guided motion. Within 60 seconds, we felt like we were dancing more professionally. Then throughout, he introduced us to some different steps and traded off so we could both have the experience of dancing with someone who knew what they were doing. We practiced our basic steps, and when we came back we had Nicole who enthusiastically built on what we apparently had already gotten down in two weeks, showing us a few more spins. It was a lot of fun! They just point out where your steps are off or the leading/following motions and things started to flow quickly. We always have loved dancing like goof balls together, it's something we both enjoy but it's a different kind of high to learn actual fundamentals and dance moves. I couldn’t recommend Bobby as an instructor more! He is absolutely the best! My fiancé and I looked forward to our wedding dance lessons every week and ended up doing a few extra sessions after our package ran out. Neither of us have any experience dancing and Bobby always made us feel extremely comfortable. We learned a lot and had fun doing it. Bobby is extremely methodical and detailed and is very thoughtful about how to make a great routine that you’re completely comfortable with. The studio is very clean and private as well. All of the tips that Bobby gave us for our wedding day were so helpful. Our guests were crying/cheering/so touched by our wedding dance and are still talking about it weeks later.
