Went to Gentleman's Barber Spa for the first time without any expectations as it had been nearly two months between haircuts and I was heading out of the city for the next few weeks. The shop was a few minutes by my office near Canal St so very convenient. I booked Alex for the afternoon.
It was an excellent decision. From the jump, I knew I was going to get a terrific haircut when I saw Alex in a sharp suit. Alex is a prodigy at what he does. Extremely meticulous and detail oriented, a tremendous conversation and by far one of the best haircuts I've had in years (and I've had great barbers over the years). Beyond the haircut, I appreciated the client service and just talking shop. In 35 minutes it ranged from a mutual interest in collectors items, watches, his 107 year old grandfather, his time in the military and the work he's put in being a good father. I work in financial services and one of the first things I can tell you is that relationships and being able to just talk person to person goes beyond a simple haircut.
I had several compliments about my haircut immediately after getting back to the office for meetings. Alex has won my business for as long as he'll be around. Don't hesitate to book him and know that you'll be getting a sensational haircut and a good time. Many thanks, Alex and much...
Read moreFrom the second I sat into Jeff’s chair I had a feeling this wasn’t going to be a good experience. The first thing I did was explain to him what I wanted doing to my hair and showed him a picture I had my last barber take when I left london. Jeff’s first words were “let me make it better than that”. I explicitly told him that all I wanted him to do was what I asked for and mumbled “okay”. Then as he was cutting my hair I stopped him as he was most definitely not doing what I asked as he had already taken the machine way too high and he said “I’ve been cutting hair for [30 years or something like that] - I know what I’m doing” as he cut my hair way too short. At the end he dried and put some product in my hair and said “looks good, no?” and my response was “No! This is exactly what I told you not to do” to which he didn’t seem to care. Also, he kept pausing cutting my hair to check his phone! Awful experience and well overpriced. If I wanted someone to cut my hair as they felt fit then I would go to a $5 barber anywhere. Not what I expected and extremely...
Read moreLet me start off by saying Oh May word is this place superb in every way a gentleman spa can be!. The minute you walk in the professionalism is on par!, the place is immaculate, beautiful like an old school new school vibe.
I got a haircut and hot towel shave with bread trim by Daniel. He’s extremely professional, his skills in cutting hair are by far better then I’ve experienced in many years, he kinda reminds me of an old school barber but keeps it new, it’s pretty cool lol. . My hair isn’t easy from what many barbers have told me in the past but it seemed like a walk in the park for Daniel. He was very detailed oriented in his craft and didn’t deviate at all from what I asked for, I’m extremely happy with my hair cut! I totally feel like a new man! Definitely recommend this place for everyone!
Will definitely book again with Daniel! Extremely happy with my experience at Gentalmen...
