This was my first time ever in my life doing hair color and I am so impressed by the experience. Jonathan is SO NICE; he is very knowledgeable and he knows what to do with your hair. I thought I wouldn't look good with lighter hair colors, but surprisingly, he was able to pull it off and I really like how it turned out. I wanted a light brown color, and what I got was a little different, but it looked SO GOOD like I think it was even better than what I originally wanted. I'm glad that I went here to do my hair color and I will highly recommend to anyone going for their first time (virgin hair)! You won't be disappointed and I am so happy for the opportunity to be able to change my appearance and look good. The staff are very attentive, and Jonathan does not forget about you no matter how many customers there are. He really remembers you and takes the time to get to know you as well, checking up on you to make sure you are okay. They know that it has to look good, so just trust the process while you are in there and they work their magic to make you look good. :)

Honestly, I thought I would look so bad with light hair but when all was said and done, it looked AMAZING! I LOVE how it turned out and the dimensions make it so stunning and lovely. Overall, the time it took was to be expected since I did my research beforehand on hair dying and it did mention that it would take several hours although since I had virgin hair that wasn't that long in terms of length, I was able to save a few hours and the whole thing took about 5.5 hours for me from start to finish. I say that the price is worth it for what you get. You will be surprised at what colors you can pull off here. I think Jonathan has a good eye for seeing what color you would look good in and go from there. He really keeps your opinions and words in mind as he works on your hair, checking it every step of the way. I feel relieved that he does that especially since it was my first time and I don't know anything about it. It gives you peace of mind and I love how they also style it at the end for you. As soon as I walked out the door of that place, so many people started to notice and give me compliments. That's how you know that they did a good job and you look great. :) I assure you, you will not be sad about it.

The place also is a nice environment. The temperature, atmosphere, and music are all good. There's no foul smell and overall a pleasant scene, which is nice if you need to do work or are just scrolling on your phone as the time passes.

I didn’t like how I was sitting idly for over an hour while everyone else in the salon had someone working on their hair. My appointment was at 10am and promptly seated, but mid-appointment, the stylist leaves. My hair was bleached and waiting on toner......... An entire hour goes by and I’m just sitting there with yellow hair.............. eventually, I get tired of it and ask if anyone is going to come work on my hair.... I was so upset about it, because I had seen great reviews, great photos, and even a recommendation from a close friend.... and I’m met with nothing happening for over an hour... no idea where the stylist went..... front desk person starts whispering to friends and they start staring :/ High school vibes :)

They gave me a slice of pizza for lunch, which was appreciated, and a discount for the inconvenience. I left a tip despite my disappointment with the service, and the front desk person tried to accuse me of not tipping :| I asked if the free Japanese hair mask was still part of my visit like previously agreed upon, but due to the discount they offered, the free mask was revoked for this visit......

I like my hair a lot but I hate being reminded of the negative experiences :( I have never cried in a salon before, and I was so hurt! They said they were busy and laughed while apologizing but I was serviced immediately after fussing............ I was just so sad about the entire thing. I cannot recommend this salon at this time despite that I do like the hair. This was a horrible first impression. I have seen other salons do the same thing and will look into those. This could have been avoided had the first stylist not leave without coverage.... an entire hour, and you’re just sitting there, feeling invisible...... why??? The standard price is $375 with a side of emotional distress and music from 2010... The discount is appreciated and honestly deserved... I really hate thinking about my time here, which I am...

Decided to try this place out since my usual stylist was on maternity leave and Ive heard so many great things about Jonathan. From the start, his communication is excellent - reached out to him via Instagram dms for a quote for me and a friend and he was extremely quick and responsive to my questions, which put me at ease.

On the day of the appointment, process was very smooth — after a quick 10 min consultation with Jonathan, he got started right away. Fabulous hair colorist and savvy businessman - he really puts in the time and effort to make you feel good about your hair. Process was longer than I experienced in other places (6+ hours for 2 bleach sessions), but it’s bc his team meticulously would add olaplex to each bleach sesh and they used the bleach with lowest strength to protect hair integrity as much as possible — a tradeoff that is well worth the extra time imo.

We did a photoshoot after our hair was finished and he directed us the whole way thru, which I’ve never done at hair salons before and it was actually really fun- I know its all for marketing, but I see it as having lasting professionally lit photos of my hair at its finest! He even took pictures of me and my friend together, which was a plus.

Jonathan’s Characteristics that made the exp more pleasant: + he was patient when my friend wanted to apply makeup before taking photos, and + also appreciated his transparency- I asked about shampoos they had on sale and he didn’t push me to buy them at all, suggesting that what I was already using was fine.

Overall cost: Bleach, toner, and haircut for $375, which is a steal in nyc! Would absolutely recommend Jonathan and this hair salon. Come with a friend for an even more fun experience- he creates a very accommodating and relaxed environment for a bestie...
