HAIIER HAIR SALON — Local services in New York

I have visited this salon for almost 2 years. It was one of the businesses I worried about since the pandemic and I want to make sure they are able to weather this storm. There were a few new changes I noticed since the crisis :

1. all the customers and staff are required to wear masks at all times (yes, also during the shampooing, haircut, or what have you)
2. a person will check your temperature with an infrared thermometer before granting you entry in the main work area
3. the number of people in the main area have been reduced in order to maintain social distancing to the very best of their ability
4. a number of different masks and disinfectants are available at the very counter of Haiier
5. they have stopped offering refreshments (which makes sense because of the pandemic)

While there are many businesses that were eager to reopen and irresponsibly recoup as much money as they can without concern for the pandemic, Haiier is not one of them. Here, Haiier shows us a great example of how to be a responsible business during a difficult time. I hope that more support can be shown to this business and that the customers may be more understanding about these procedures they have to perform to make sure staff and customers are safe.

Now, with that all said and done, they still give amazing haircuts and colors from my experience, and the crisis has not changed that. Usually Tara takes care of me, but this time it was Seven. Evan did the shampooing (he's excellent coz he gives scalp massages too). Coco does fine work with colors. And there's always Yvonne that takes care of my...

Normally i go to Eden who is AMAZING he listens to exactly what you ask for and does a beautiful job. (He deserves a 5 star alone) But this review isn’t for him, he was unavailable for the day of my recent haircut so i went to Kevin. Kevin was late 30 minutes to our appointment due to traffic. Not a big deal to me and i was offered water while i waited. I always ask for a hush cut (heavy layers and wispy curtain bangs) and i showed pictures and said to keep the length but to refresh the layers (my hair was a bit under hip length) He took photos of the reference and kept looking back at them so i was very hopeful! Sadly he cut about 3-4 inches off the longest part of my hair and thinned my hair out so much. I already have thin hair so i’m surprised he used them with such a heavy hand. The cut looked very beautiful but that’s because he styles it very well, once i was home and washed my hair i realized how much hair was gone and it didn’t even look good unless i styled it (normally when Eden gives me the cut it still looks good unstyled) Very disappointed, all those years of growing my hair out down the drain. Will ONLY be seeing Eden...

I got a cut and regular and root perm from Kevin over Christmas and I’m happy to say that it was a fantastic experience. I showed him my inspiration photos and he executed them perfectly. We spoke in mandarin, and he was able to tell me about my hair type and what cut would be best to get the curls I wanted. The haircut alone was by far, the best I’ve had. The layers were so pretty and gave my hair more volume. During the perm, kevin and another hairdresser took amazing care of me and constantly checked in to make sure I was comfortable and worked with my hair the entire time. I was there for around 6 hours because my hair is especially difficult to perm and usually falls straight after a few days, but the results were so worth it. The photo shows my hair after it was blow dried twice and styled- it is more curly and wavy on my regular day to day hair. Even after a month my hair still holds its curls, which I have never been able to achieve. Kevin was so nice to work with and even gave me tips on how to style my hair and what products to use, and even gave me a hair serum that makes my hair feel so soft and fluffy....
