I walked into Hairrari not knowing what I needed -- except that I needed a change. I walked out feeling awesome, edgy, gorgeous -- a better, bolder version of myself.
I knew that Hairrari was unique after e-mailing with the owner, Magdalena, about my hair predicament. She was so responsive and inspiring -- thoughtfully taking time to recommend the perfect hairdresser for what I needed. (Magdalena also owns Manetamed, which I can only imagine is as fantastic as Hairrari).
Any old haircut/style will make you feel fine, normal, blah blah -- but when you get in the chair of someone not only talented, but instinctually right-on with a creative eye, you get that bold, better version I mentioned above.
Naomi, who did my cut, gave me such care and skillfully gave me such a great cut, that I feel like I will always be indebted to her (and I got so inspired by the cut that I has her add on some highlights which she did an amazing amazing job with -- they ROCK my world).

Ā Ā Ā Read moreI love Hairrari so much! Natasha is absolutely AMAZING and does a stellar job every time and is so sweet and lovely to chat with but I've noticed while waiting that she is happy to not chat as well for folks who are perhaps not in the mood. A lot of hairdressers will always be super talkative and not sensitive to the fact that NYC can be exhausting and a quiet haircut is sometimes really nice. However, I always talk to her since we have some commonalities and she's a lovely individual. The prices are a bit high but understand why and thats mostly because I'm a broke queer Bushwick starving artist Brooklynite at the moment. Love how queer and queer friendly this place is as well but it's a place for everyone. Lastly, you can often get last minute appointments of be put on the waiting list for spontaneous and busy folks that don't always know their schedule! Bravo, will be back...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreIt was my first time at hairrari (bushwick location) yesterday after a friend signed me up for their pay what you can day, and I can say without a doubt that it was the best haircut experience Iāve ever had. Hairrariās pay what you can days provide professional, full service and accessible treatments for clients including shampooing and conditioning, styling, and a hot towel for your neck after the cut. I had the pleasure of working with Shea who has a very welcoming, calming and kind demeanor so I instantly felt safe with her. Iāve never had a haircut from another queer person before and it was clear to me how passionate Shea and hairrari are about providing āidentity affirming and confidence boostingā transformations through hair and appearance. I walked out of hairrari feeling understood, accepted, and hyped up! Im already looking forward to...
