We went here last week for my brother and his fiancés joint bachelor/bachelorette party.
The Positives: Great selection of music The house was very clean and tidy BYOB for food and beer. This was great as we ordered pizza and brought whatever we wanted to drink They introduced everyone over the speakers before their song The Negatives: There is an orientation that takes place during your scheduled time so definitely make sure everyone arrives right on time. We had a group of 21 people so 4 hours cost a little over $800.00 total. it took us about 15-20 minutes to get settled and then the orientation was about 15 minutes long. Again at 800.00 for 4 hours - 15 minutes equals about $50.00 wasted. By the time the first song was started we were already 45 minutes in.
The orientation itself was heavily focused on Covid and Covid prevention while we were there. While I understand that precautions are important, it was a little much. We were all triple vaxed yet the host still took an awkward amount of time to explain how to use a UV light to clean the mic. Not really sure the point of cleaning the mic or how it will further protect the group when we all packed into a small living room sharing drinks and food. Again…wasted time we are paying for.
The hosts sing at the end……
o This was our biggest issue and it was very awkward. The future bride requested to have the final song of the night (A very reasonable request). She chose a beautiful song that she sang to her fiancé, and it was the perfect close to the night…that is until the host decided that in fact HE would get the final song. Without moment’s notice he picked up the mic and preformed not one, but two songs. It was not only awkward, but we found it to actually be quite rude, disrespectful and gratuitous. What was supposed to be a perfect close and special moment for the bride and groom was hi-jacked. PS, two of our song were cut due to time, yet one of the hosts still sang a song during our paid time. I would say we lost a total of 45 minutes of time all said and done. Honestly, I wish I had asked for...
Read moreI very rarely review things online but I wanted to make an exception for Lion's Roar Karaoke. This was one of the most unique and fun experiences I've had in Brooklyn. At the risk of sounding cryptic, I can only say this is not like any other Karaoke experience you will have. This isn't like going to a bar with karaoke where you could wait all night and hopefully get the chance to sing one song. It's also not like a lot of private room karaoke where you are left completely alone. This is a hybrid. It's like having an incredibly nice and talented couple come to do a private karaoke party for you but you are having it in their space. The owners are fantastic and they dj for you and keep the whole show rolling without a hitch. You basically get this pretty good sized room and kitchen and bathroom. I reserved simply on the phone and then showed up with a few friends and had so much fun. I can't wait...
Read moreTo expensive for what you get. Go to duets or similar they offer private rooms for karaoke plus they have a full bar at low prices and you can bring your own food for cheaper. But other than the price to place is nice and the hosts are great. I just personally didn't think the cost was worth it.
I appreciate the reply. Your apartment Kareoke spot was within budget. My comment is simply that for the price there are similar alternatives. I personally think you should always look for the best deal. I can't really enjoy something if I feel like I overpaid. There are actually nice Kareoke bars and venues that are not dingy dive bars. I know I've rented one for a party before, which is why I left feeling as if the price wasn't worth it. Again this is just my cost...
