My initial experience was wonderful. I had a uti, I don't remember Dr's name, Darlene? She took a urine specimen and prescribed a med. She explained that this should work, but there are various types of uti each requiring a different med. I took the med as instructed and it seemed to clear up. However, about 10 days later symptoms reappeared but not as badly. I went back and a different dr was in. He took a urine sample and at the same time sent a script to my pharmacy. The only question asked was if I had any allergies. No. The script I picked up had 2 pages of possible issues taking the med he prescribed. I am 80 years old and in reasonably decent health, I am on a statin and blood pressure med. When I picked up the script, there was a 3 page list of possible reactions to the med. The list included muscle weakenes, nerve damage, heart attack, stroke and other conceivably diabilitating issues. I went back to tell him that I couldn't take the med he prescribed. His response was, I asked if you had allergies, then do you want penicillin?. Silly me, I thought he would know which meds should be used. Penicillin is not even on the list of possible antibiotics for uti. Needless to say, I was less than impressed with his knowledge. I left in a huff and will never go back there, I'd rather die in the street than enter this place again. BTW, on my first visit the toilet room was clean, there were paper towels and soap. This time, it appeared that the floor had not been mopped In a while and there were no paper towels or soap. I strongly suggest that you do not entrust any health issues to...
Read moreFor anyone with a physical injury, DO NOT GO TO HEALTHNEED. I went to HealthNeed on Grand St. in Manhattan when I injured my wrist in a fall. Despite bruising, swelling, and pain, the provider, a PA, was reluctant to x-ray and only did so after I said I had osteoporosis and then blamed me for not saying so at the outset. He then misread the x-ray and told me I had a sprain. After several weeks of discomfort, I went to NYU Orthopedic urgent care, where they immediately took x-rays and told me I had a fracture and referred me to a hand surgeon. Because I was not put in a cast right away, the fracture is now displaced, is healing more slowly, and my 2 hands and wrists do not quite look the same. Luckily, I do not need surgery. When I read the report of my visit, I saw that the supervising physician signed off 3 days after my visit, which says to me that he never saw the x-ray. I requested a copy of the x-ray and after now seeing several subsequent x-rays of my hand, was able to pretty clearly see the dark line signifying a fracture. In my opinion, HealthNeed may be useful for minor illness and sexual health needs, but they clearly are not equipped to deal with...
Read morewent in about a month ago with a cough and shortness of breath, and the doctor started freaking out because my oxygen levels were low and suspecting pneumonia. When i asked what the “normal range was”, my oxygen level fell right within the range he told me which was odd, but he wanted to take an x-ray to make sure, which was fine, better safe than sorry. We took it, and it came back with nothing, but he still kept pushing for me to go to the ER, insisting that it HAD to be pneumonia and that my “low” oxygen level is enough to be in the hospital on its own. I went to the ER that evening, spent about 3-5 hours of my night and an extra $200+ just to have another x-ray and a viral swab and be told i have the common cold. a few days later, i was completely fine. EVEN THE ER DOCTOR QUESTIONED: “ARE YOU SURE THIS GUY IS A REAL DOCTOR” AND LAUGHED WHILE READING THE REFERRAL NOTE FROM THE URGENT CARE DOCTOR HERE. Complete of a day and complete...
