We were heading to Trader Joe’s on a rainy day to do some grocery shopping, but we hadn’t eaten yet and didn’t want to shop hungry, so we stopped into Manousheh Grand to check them out & now they are our new favorite eatery. We ordered a zaatar & jibneh manousheh which is like a flatbread - but tastes so much better than a flatbread - bc the dough is more delicate and becomes one with the toppings. Ahh, the toppings. The zaatar was such a perfect blend and you get your choice of cheeses, we chose akkawi, which had a briny wonderful flavor that went so well with the sesame seeds and thyme. For dessert, we got ashta, which is a clotted cream they make in house with orange blossom water and rosewater with honey and a maamoul/cahk cookie with a walnut filling and powdered sugar on top, which was my dad’s favorite type of cookie and I almost cried when I took a bite into it, bc I was wishing I could bring him some to try. The ashta was my son’s favorite and had such a delicious consistency. We can’t wait to go back and try so many of their other savory and sweet treats. Oh, I forgot to mention, there was plenty of seating, the restaurant was very clean, and even though they had a steady stream of customers, they were on top of it, and everyone was super friendly.

had the manousheh (half zaatar half cheese) and was instantly transported back to beirut, down to the parchment wrapper. the only place this side of the atlantic i've been able to get this close to the transcendent experience that is a piping hot lebanese manousheh is right here. the cheese is good, the oil is good, the zaatar is good, the dough is good, and the oven actually has the secret sauce. you can do everything right and still end up with a subpar product if you don't have the right فرن. these guys do. my only real gripe is that the manaeesh here are so expensive given how dirt cheap they are to make, and arguably how cheap they ought to be in principle—manaeesh are so widespread and affordable that they represent the breakfast of the people regardless of wealth; if you can afford nothing else, you can afford a manousheh. the very same thing would be a dollar, maybe two in lebanon. abou jamil might even throw in a bon jus for free. that said, you're in manhattan, not beirut, so given the cost of doing business in manhattan these days, just be glad one of these will only run you nine dollars. for now.

Food leaves a lot to be desired. Tabouleh salad is meant to have a great lemon flavor which mine did not. The manoush are baked on fresh bread, and all the bread are delicious. The zaatar (thyme/sesame)& laham biajeen (meat) and Muhamara didn't taste great. Muhamara especially should have a slight crunch to it since it has walnuts in it. This was so puréed that it was almost like eating red pepper paste on bread, which isn't very desirable as it was mushy. The manoush gibneh (cheese) was the best one. My friend also ordered the hummus fatteh which I tried. It was very light and soupy rather than a thicker dip as it should be. Flavor was also light as a result. To be honest, growing up in a Lebanese household and visiting Lebanon & Beirut in the past, these flavors are not representative of Lebanese fare. This feels more Jordanian or mixed and isn't as pleasing with the flavors. Definitely consider another place for authentic Lebanese flavors. This ain't it.

Absolutely thrilled to share my experience at Manoushe Grand, an absolute gem in NYC! Coming from Shiraz, home to world-class saffron and the iconic Saadi rose ice cream, I'm no stranger to fine, aromatic flavors. And let me tell you, Manoushe Grand's Ashta ice cream is hands down the best I've had in North America. It’s creamy, luscious, with that homemade clotted cream they blend into their rose-flavored soft serve—pure magic in a $3 cone! It's honestly a tenth the price of any ritzy dessert you'll find uptown and offers twice the amount of pure, blissful flavor.

The vibe? Minimalist but filled with thoughtful touches that exude warmth and beauty. The space makes you feel like you’re stepping into a family home where everything is crafted with love. And let’s talk about that flatbread—fresh out of a real fire oven, it’s the perfect match for the intense herbal flavors of za’atar, olives, olive oil, and lime. It just sings with the zesty notes of the Mediterranean.

Their menu is a paradise of Mediterranean flavors. Here are some must-try dishes:

Labne with Zaatar Flatbread – The tangy labne paired with herbed flatbread is everything you want for a flavor-packed bite.

Chicken or Lamb Shawarma Wrap – A juicy, herby classic with perfectly spiced meat wrapped in soft flatbread.

Falafel Plate – Crispy on the outside, soft inside, with vibrant herbs that make it a dream for vegetarians.

Lentil Soup – A richly spiced soup with Swiss chard and beans, loaded with flavors that will warm your soul.

Mezze Sampler – Hummus, baba ghanoush, tabbouleh, and pickled vegetables for a true Mediterranean feast.

The folks running the show here, especially the owners, are down-to-earth, genuinely kind people who’ve put their heart and soul into making this spot special. If you’re a fan of authentic, soul-warming food, don’t wait too long to experience Manoushe Grand—before you know it, there will be a line...

Manousheh Restaurant truly excels in delivering an authentic taste of the Middle East, and their za'atar manousheh is nothing short of exceptional. From the moment you step inside, you're greeted by a warm and inviting atmosphere that reflects the rich culinary traditions of the region.

The za'atar manousheh itself is a delightful experience. The dough is perfectly crafted, with a light and airy texture that complements the aromatic za'atar blend beautifully. The combination of thyme, sesame seeds, and sumac creates a burst of flavor that is both earthy and refreshing. Each bite is a harmonious balance of spices that transports you straight to the heart of Levantine cuisine.

What sets this restaurant apart is not just the quality of their food but also the attention to detail in preparation. The za'atar is generously spread across the manousheh, ensuring that every morsel is packed with flavor. Whether enjoyed on its own or paired with a side of labneh or fresh vegetables, it’s a dish that satisfies cravings and leaves you wanting more.

The service is also commendable, with friendly staff eager to share their knowledge of the menu and recommend pairings. The restaurant's commitment to using fresh ingredients is evident, making each dish a...
