I was in desperate need of a manicure and my lady had to urgently travel for 2 weeks. I saw good reviews and that the place was close by. Salon is very nice and clean and staff is super friendly. However, my nails were poorly done. No two nails were the same, despite showing the photos of the shape I usually get (short square), I ended up with partially round nails. SNS was piled up, and stayed so, uneven. I was trying to get the lovely lady to fix it for me, but she kept on buffing the sides making the nail more round. Finally, it chipped the moment I grabbed my phone. I was not going to have her do it all over simply because it was my impression it would be worse afterwards. I am very specific about (my) nails and I firmly believe that simply getting a cosmetology license is not enough. There has to be some skill or talent. I was very disappointed and sad, because I work with my hands and it bothers me. On top of it, by law, business is NOT allowed to charge a debit card fee. Yes, a credit card fee, but not for debit. Debit card surcharge is illegal. Granted, a few dollars won't kill me, but I find it rude, as I don't like to be fooled like that. Their cash register is fully in Chinese, besides the numbers. This service cost me $63. Very nice and clean salon and staff, sweet service and attention, but poor skills.

Friendly and consistent service at a good price. I have been coming here for over 2 years. Love the little snacks and tea they give out for every service too

I've been to this nail salon a few times in the past and had a great experience. This time around I had an experience from hell. The lady who provided my services was dishonest with the salon's price and charged more than what she verbally quoted me and also damaged my nails. She used an electric nail filer and made a hole in the bed of my nail causing hematomas on two others. She covered it up by painting over the damaged nail in a red color so I did not notice until the polish was removed. I did feel extreme pain for three days after my Mani/Pedi services. When I tried to reach management and the owner to rectify the situation of my damaged nails and price gauging I was made to feel like I was lying and was only offered a salon credit instead of a rightful refund even though I sent them proof of the damage. I'm so upset by this experience, imagine spending $160 for a spa gel manicure and pedicure and ending up with such damage to your feet that you're unable to wear nail polish for the next few months. I decided to pursue legal action and file a complaint to the Department of Health and the Association of Nail Salon Owners. Beware Enter at your own risk.

I came into Hot Tips Nail last night in a treacherous state. I mean, my clothes and shoes looked cute, but my nails… a disaster!!!! Legit, they had far too grown out acrylics that were breaking off and my nails torn all up and my nail beds were broken and bleeding. The angels of Hot Tips Nail (two of them: Eva and Emily) immediately came to my rescue. Filled with love and compassion, they did not judge my state (I was so embarrassed as I went to beauty school - Aveda Institue of NY- and this is never something I would have allowed in my life for myself). I’ve been through it recently, struggling with money hardcore. They were like, it’s ok, we get it, like true angels of NYC.

They understood, heard me, cared.

They genuinely cared.

I felt so comforted. They spent a long time carefully removing the damage, healing my pain so evident in my finger tips.

Eva provided a stellar shoulder massage (I splurged for 30 mins as my last massage was.. in 2023??) and she healed my war worn shoulders and upper back, as my beaten down hands soaked in acetone.

Eva then expertly crafted my sweet claws to look like this!!! I am empowered. I feel stronger. I feel so beautiful!

This is what the beauty industry is for. This is why I’m a hairdresser. To help people feel beautiful and know their inner beauty is worthy of love and that it’s ok to have it shine outward into the world. Even, and most especially, amidst a lot of struggle and pain.

Beauty is for everyone. Everyone everyone everyone!!

Thank you, my loves!!! Will be back when I can for you to rescue my feet/toes… they badly need...

I had acrylics on and needs them removed and wanted brand new gel mani on my real nails. The process of removing it was fine until one of the lady decided to come in to help the lady already removing my nails from my right hand, so she went to help file the melted acrylic off my left hand. When she got to my index finger she was FILING MY NAILS TO THE POINT WHERE IT BURNED AND I YANKED MY HAND AWAY. There was no need to rush, and aggressively file the melted acrylics to the point my actual nail bed was about to fall off and you can feel how thin it became. It was RED too and i told her to stop. she walked away. This really pissed me off and ruined my experience because she was rushing and filed my index nail bed so much to the point my entire nail almost fell off bc it was so thin. No apologies nothing. I didn’t tip her only the lady that did my nail. Nail job was okay. I probably wouldn’t come back again.

UPDATE to respond the response - i’ve never had any nail tech file my nail so bad till i flinched and yanked my hand away because it burned. Clearly, the nail lady wasn’t trained or she was just rushing to be done - when she wasn’t even the lady to do the rest of my nails anyway. She also didn’t apologize. and also my index nail that she filed so thinly still is very sensitive even after 2 weeks of it being done.

I also asked initially how much it was to remove just my acrylics and they said $20, but as soon as i asked for a gel mani they changed it to $10....
