Hunters Landing — Local services in New York

The building itself is not bad. The front desk staff and on-site manager are excellent, friendly, and responsive. However, there were multiple issues with renting here, especially with the property management company (Venture, as of July 2025), that have prompted me to write this review, which I have never had to do for any other apartment I've rented.

The primary issue with the apt was noise. I have never been a person who is sensitive to noise. I have never made a noise complaint in my life. The walls of the apartments are paper thin. A noisy toddler in the room across the hall was audible through closed doors enough to wake me up every morning, and was even worse when the toddler would run screaming down the hallways in the early morning. I complained for four straight months to Venture management (Nellia) about this. She stated she would talk to the tenants multiple times, and nothing changed. I ultimately had to threaten a lawsuit and finally Venture responded, allowing me to exit my lease early and move out without penalty.

Venture management then failed to return my security deposit. It took nearly 2 months of repeated inquiries for me to receive it. They also did not return the interest on my security deposit, which is required by law. I asked for it multiple times, and it was only after I filed a complaint with the NY attorney general and filed a small claims lawsuit for it that they finally complied and returned my interest.

I have never in 17 years of renting had to deal with such an incompetent management company. Not only does it take multiple, repeated emails to get Nellia (nor anyone at the company) to reply for anything, but it is obvious that the company has minimal to no regard for its tenants, nor is it familiar with basic NY tenant rights (returning security deposit within 2 weeks, with interest). It is utterly bewildering to me how someone can be this incomprehensibly inept. Yet I choose to believe that the company is just grossly incompetent rather than deliberately negligent, for the sake of maintaining what is left of my dwindling faith in other human beings.

If you are seeking to live here, be aware that if you are unlucky enough to have a noisy neighbor or any other actual problem, that there will be minimal to no actual support or problem-solving on your behalf from Venture management without threatening a lawsuit. Lots of bad vibes in this place it's a revolving door of people moving out and in. They can't stop the smokers from smoking in this non smoking building I've lived here for over 3 years and the issues are coming up ! Let's start talking about the locks for the apartments when I first moved in the maintenance was putting on an extra barrier by the locks cause he said people apartments got broken into one morning I woke up with the thing I put behind my door moved away like someone opened my door in the middle of the night. There is no safety when a stranger has access to your apartment key it's just a matter of time before something happens etc. In addition the building gives one day notice for any adjustments needed for your apartment abviously everyone is not going to be home so their coming in without...

I love the location—it's so convenient, and the neighborhood is awesome. The front desk staff are superb. Management, Nallia, is non-responsive until it’s time to renew your lease. The amenities are outdated and need to be replaced.

I have been here one year and lately my apartment has become infested with roaches, the pest exterminator comes frequently and it is not working. I am traumatized. I hate roaches. I’m a very clean person and have never experienced having a pest control issue even when living in cheaper apartments. I will move before I pay high rent and live in a building...
