IndoJava — Local services in New York

So...this place has obviously become popular due to some YouTube channel and fb videos making its rounds on the internet. Just so everyone who hasn’t watched the videos yet, this place is a grocery store in which they have 2 small tables at the back of the store in which they sell food. The food is very good in terms of tasting like a “home cooked” meal. It tastes very similar to my mom’s cooking. So if you’re wondering if it’s authentic etc, I’d most definitely say yes. Additionally, I believe the food is on a rotational basis...meaning it’s not always the same menu. So keep that in mind. You’re pretty much going in for a plate of indo food which consists of rice, meats, veges etc, which seems to be $10 per plate. Definitely worth popping in and trying!! In terms of the grocery store itself, it’s a standard no frills indo grocery store...so if you’re expecting something like wholefoods, you might as well turn around...

My favorite feature of Indo Java is every Tuesday is the Warung Selasa pop up by Chef Dewi. While having an ever changing menu of one Indonesian meal on Tuesday May be frustrating for some, I say “in Dewi I trust.” In other words, whatever she is making, that is what I am having and I know from experience it is found to be excellent. Find her Sunday Instagram post to see what she is planning to serve. If you see her Duck dish, beef tendon dish, Tripe dish, or Giant Meatball (baksa) with noodles, dm her to save an order. Don’t expect to waltz in and be guaranteed an order. They are almost all accounted for with pre-orders. this place is probably the best hole in the wall in the whole city. nestled in the back is a tiny prep space where a women who graces us only once a week, with a single plate of food, resides. theres no thrills here but its not why you come. although youre in a tiny grocery store in a part of the city that has literally no greater incentive to visit besides a plate like this, you automatically feel at home is youre lucky enough to grab one or two of the four, and i literally mean four, chairs. i cant even describe how rich and generous the plates are but it doesnt compare to the glowing personality she serves with it. she will chew your ear out and i will listen to her wholeheartedly because she is willing to share her knowledge (and by that i mean...
