Went here on 10/14/2020 with my husband and was taken back by our experience. My husband and I ordered the following: Lahi's BBQ Pork Ribs, BBQ Chicken Pinakbet (mixed vegetables) Calamari, Pancit, and two mango juices. My husband's order came with pickled vegetables and mine as well which we love, however we were disappointed when my husband discovered a partially live bug among his bed of lettuce that the pickled vegetables were in. On my bed of lettuce with pickled vegetables there was dirt which indicated the staff had not washed the produce prior to plating it. Not to mention there was an eyelash on my fried calamari and my BBQ Chicken was served to me partially raw as if it was pan seared with grill marks, immediately plated, and smothered in a sauce that wasn't to my liking. It wasn't even hot! Our Pancit arrived close to the end of our meal as well. I was in shock because we never experienced this before at this establishment. In my opinion our food had to be sent back too often than it should have been. I was more so upset because I hadn't ate all day until after 4pm when we arrived and all this had taken place. The kicker for me was when I just checked my statements from my bank that Lahi's staff committed an act of fraud by charging my debt card more then what the amount was approved for as I did not authorize for the staff to take out anything additional than the subtotal on the bottom of my receipt. This is not appropriate once so ever Lahi and you've lost a customer. Word of advice to customers: ALWAYS keep your receipts and check your account statements as I'm sure this is not the only time they have done something like this when the tip amount was intentionally zeroed out by...
Read moreThis was my first time trying a Filipino restaurant in NYC. I arrived earlier than my party, who were still in Manhattan and did not tell me until I had arrived, so I had an awkward conversation with the nice waiter about it. There was some confusion between 6 -- he thought I said 6 people, but I meant 6 o'clock, which unfortunately became almost 7. Instead of forcing me out, he allowed me to stay at a table until they arrived. He offered glass water as I apologized for the late members of my party and told him if there was a larger party coming, I could move tables. One of the members of my party bailed, so there were only 2 of us, forcing me to have another awkward encounter with the waiter, who was still kind and understanding. The restaurant was not full, so maybe that is why. So 5/5 for customer service.
The food was fairly good. I loved the lumpia appetizer. I ordered Sisig Buboy as my entree. It was pretty dry and I felt either some small bones or extremely hard parts. I do wonder how the peanut sauce would have tasted on it. I understand. It's supposed to be a crunchy dish. So I wouldn't hold that against them and if ever back in Elmhurst in the future, I would try another dinner. My girlfriend enjoyed milkfish. Their honey flan was delicious.
They have a clean and functional restroom with paper towels. It is difficult to find places with restrooms in Elmhurst. They also take card,...
Read moreMy friends and I had dinner here since we really miss having filipino cuisine. Not quiet a good experience tho. When we requested to add eggs for our sisig, they refused and said that the sisig is no longer hot which is really disappointing since we want to enjoy our sisig that way. We let that pass. But when we were about to finish our meal, we decided to request for extra plates and spoons cos my friend has a small dessert but the waitress told us that they dont allow giving extra plates!!! My friend asked how come they dont grant our small requests but then one of the waitresses (that boyish gurl 🙄) just sarcastically repeated what we just asked. But what is more infuriating is that she acted as though she was already ready to throw punches on us. (Typical “Ugaling Skwatter” Pinoy) We just tried to calm down ourselves since there was no point of arguing with them. This is going to be the last time that we will eat in...
