I typically have a better experience. But I was in a rush and decided to allow someone else to cut my hair. This entire month I will be traveling, so I was hoping to look great in the process. I don’t have much time to get my hair cut, but I clearly should have waited because this was easily the worst-case scenario.
After showing the person cutting my hair a picture of the style I wanted, I explained that I wanted a simple two-block cut and asked them not to take much off the top. I specifically wanted my bangs slightly above my eyebrows and pointed exactly where I wanted them to be set on the left side. Keep in mind, I showed him a picture of the haircut I wanted. These details are key before I proceed to critique what happened, as this had to be one of the most incompetent and negligent haircuts I’ve ever had.
I’ve had this haircut for more than 15 years and have been to multiple salons in New York and Japan. While I’m not an expert, I have a general idea of how most stylists start this haircut. He, however, clearly had no idea. I didn’t expect him to start by cutting from the top and my bangs, as typically, stylists separate and move my bangs and begin with the sides to work on the undercut first. In fact, his coworker, who was working on another client at the time, always starts with the sides. So, the incompetence begins here.
As I sat there, he immediately started cutting the top portion. This is not how it usually goes, but he proceeded to cut way more than an inch off the top, and my bangs ended up more than an inch shorter than I wanted. They vary from being cut one inch to three inches. What’s worse, he didn’t even recall where my bangs were set, so he assumed they were supposed to be on the right side when I had come in with them on the left. He cut in the direction he preferred rather than the one I had asked for.
I looked at him, and he looked back at me as my hair flew everywhere. The shock on both our faces was evident—he clearly realized he had messed up, and there was no going back. He continued to trim the sides, but the damage was done. I didn’t want that much off the top. Later, he asked if I wanted hairspray, but I declined because I felt like a clown with significantly less hair than I had asked for. It’s a travesty and an embarrassment. My bangs are flying everywhere—if you can even call them bangs at this point. I will be wearing a hat for the next two months, and I will never return to this salon.
It’s unfortunate because the other workers have always done a good job, but this was the one time I should have declined and waited for someone I trusted. The level of incompetence was astounding. Maybe I’m at fault for believing someone could follow basic instructions for a simple haircut, but I’ll never risk it again. This was the worst haircut at the worst possible time, and it’s truly disappointing. They ruined my entire month in just 10 minutes, which is quite an...
Read moreIt's really unfortunate that I had such a bad experience the second time I came here because I had the best experience the first time. The color and cut was exactly what I wanted.
This time though, the person who dyed my hair was pretty rough, and tugged my hair painfully a few times and also got dye on my face. I understand getting dye on the forehead/ears but she got it on my face which just seems really careless...
To make matters worse, when it came to washing, she absolutely drenched my back. I really should have said something about it while it was happening but I have pretty bad social anxiety so I didn't, so she only noticed until the very end and people had to come over to help clean it up...
The hairdresser I got this time was also really pushy and wouldn't really listen to what I was trying to tell her about how I wanted my hair cut. It's probably partially due to the language barrier, but I showed her a picture and gestured how I wanted it cut but she kept laughing at me and begrudgingly cut it to be a little more like how I wanted it but still not like what I asked for. I just let her do whatever at that point since I was feeling so anxious that I just wanted to leave.
At the end, I tipped my hairdresser $5 dollars (total cut and color was $95 so it should be fine right) but I honestly didn't want to tip the one who dyed and washed my hair since she made such a mess... The man at the front desk and the hairdresser coerced me into tipping her though, saying really rude stuff like "she has money, she just doesn't want to pay it" and "it's just a little bit of water (no it wasn't), she should still tip" so in the end I tipped $2 and they still seemed really mad about it so it's safe to say that I'm not going...
Read moreWORST HAIR SALON EVER! I would give it negative ratings My experience on 25th May 2022 was nothing but an disastrous day when I lost my good hair at this salon. I went there for a haircut; the experience began with a hair wash where the lady scrapped my scalp multiple times with her nails even after telling her that she hurt me - she apologized and continued doing the same. Next came at the salon chair where I told this male hairstylist to keep my hair length long and just give me a U shape; he asked me if I wanted layers to which I agreed. He told me that he didn’t speak English so it was difficult for him to understand me and I explained him again that I wanted to keep my long hair length and just get a U shape with layers. He began with his sheers and to my disastrous day he chopped my long length with no layers and no U shape just a straight line cut. He messed up my hair big time - I believe he could understand everything that I told him but he just ruined my hair length. He ended with curling my hair where he thought I couldn’t see what he did. There was another lady who worked there; she kept using the same appliances and hair brush to blow dry her hair and not sterilizing the set after she used it. Very awful, unhygienic and annoying moment After my disastrous hair cut during the payment the same lady forced me to give a tip to the hairstylist and the hair wash lady. A miserable day of 2022! I would never recommend this hair salon to anyone unless you speak...
