Labor Skateboard Shop — Local services in New York

I can't say how glad I am that I came to this store vs buying on line or going to any other store. As soon as I walked in I was greeted not with one of those pressured can I help you greetings. I explained I have not skated in years, I already knew the set up I wanted but I wanted to hear what advice the staff had to give and it was dead on what I wanted. One of the guys who helped me named Corey just went back and forth about different set ups that I could try out that I didn't even know showed me a number of boards let me try them out to see how they feel not once did he try to upsell me into buying the most expensive things in the store but he made sure I got good quality items. Every thing in the store from clothes to equipment was top of the line anyways but he worked with my budget even got a discount and set up. Even after the board was set up I sat and just vibed with the guys there talking about places to skate and other crazy stories. Overall great service even greater prices. Will be back again and...

Run by sk8rs, that's really all need be said. Def my go-to spot for everything from hardware to kicks. Staff is exceptionally friendly, and actually remember ur face after a visit or two, which I truly appreciate. Another big bonus is that these guys aren't square white collar biz type, they're sk8rs too, so wen someone buys a new deck and leaves there old one to b thrown out, these guys are so nice that most everyday there's a pile of used decks out front that the less fortunate can pick thru. I've gotten enough used decks, trux, wheels, and even bearings just this year so far that I was able to setup 4 boards.. so thanx to Labor, there are now 4 young kids on my blok that are learning to sk8 this summer, and now own something that will stay in their blood forever. Bought a new deck, wheels, trucks and bearings with these guys and had them fit it all up for me. Cost me $ 150. Went to the skate park the next day two of my wheels came clean off 30 seconds into my ride. Lost a bolt and my ride was over before it even started Was very disappointed as they new I was a newbie to skating so would've hoped for more care taken in respects to my safety.
