I really wanted to like this spot, but unfortunately I won't be returning. For context, this was my first time getting eyelash extensions. Brace yourself, it's a longer review. Longest review I've ever written for a business.
Pros: -The salon staff and environment are very pleasant. -The eyelash extension was very seamless! Of course the first several minutes felt weird since it was my first time getting lash extensions, but the technician was very gentle. I TKO'd on the table. My lashes came out lovely and I was very satisfied that it looked very natural and was very lightweight. Actually they look more natural in the last few days.
Cons:
Mysterious Eyelid Breakout. Two days after my procedure, when I woke up in the middle of the night, I noticed that I had a bunch of white micro bumps all across my left eyelid (about 15-20 total with most being closer to my lash line) and a couple on my right eyelid. I kinda freaked out and had a small anxiety attack. But thankfully the bumps were not inflamed and did not look infected (no swelling either). So I took a warm towel and gently wiped my eyes and the eyelashes and did that twice a day. My guess, after reading a bunch of skin care articles over the years was that it's milia, which I know is harmless. I had a facial with an esthetician the next day, she also believes it to be milia. I have kept up with wiping my eye lids with warm water. Today most of the bumps seem to be gone, which makes me think it's not milia since milia is typically more stubborn to get rid of. I know this was caused by the lash extensions because I a) have never had a lash procedure before; b) have never had any kind of breakout or milia on my eye; and c) nothing about my routine / day to day life changed. I also do not have sensitive skin. Where I will give grace is that my eye was not infected, so perhaps my eye had some delayed reaction to the glue they used. I'm not sure. I wanted to get this done to spice up my look, not to gain potential new problems.
-Pricing Transparency / Clarity. When I had gone on the website the pricing stated that a half set was $90 and a full set was $95 (they've removed the half set price in the last few days). When I arrived in the salon though the price chart shows various pricing for the different types of lashes (i.e: mink, silk, mascara, etc). So yes, a full mink set is $95. However, if you want any other type of lash, the prices go up from there. Silk, which is next up (which I chose), was $110. That should be on the website. Say "Starting at $95". They did honor their first time customer special so I did get $20 off, which was nice. Before I got the eye breakout, this wasn't a big deal, but now that I did, it matters.
Half Lash vs Full Lash. I set my appointment for a half-set extension. Since this was my first lash extension I wanted to do a half set first and if it looked natural, I'd def do the full set. I didn't want things to look over dramatic the way some people's lashes look. I reiterated this to the technician and she recommended the full lash because it would look natural. I still reiterated half lash first, let me evaluate, then full lash. When she finished, she showed me the lashes, they looked beautiful and I said, "Oh wow, this is a half lash?" She was honest let me know it's a full lash set. I wasn't mad at all because it looked really nice, but in my head I was like, "Uh, I didn't ask for full lash first." But I was happy that I finally had lengthy lashes. Though, it's the principle. I booked for half-lash, reiterated half lash, and got full lash. It's the principle. What if I couldn't afford the full lash? I would've prob been cornered.
All in all pleasant people. I don't think anyone is malicious. I won't be back. Idk what glue they use, but now I'm scared to get my...
Read moreFirst off I want to start by saying the Lash Spa park slope location have very talented women. I have been going there for the past 14 months since April 2023 through a referral. However l will not be returning. Over the weekend 6/30/24 there was a Police Investigation on Newkirk in Brooklyn which the police advised the conductors to lock the train doors at the station for 40 mins. My appointment was at 10am and the location opened at 10am. As soon as they opened I called promptly and explained my dilemma the first thing they stated was that I am losing my deposit even if I go today, and if I wanted to keep my appointment the latest I can arrive is 10:30am. They never cared on my situation how I was doing etc. As soon as the train doors opened I took a cab and I arrived there 10:36am. I was than told the lash tech can start but if their client arrived they would have to stop which confused me because I did not understand how was that even an option if they could not finish a job I was paying for. My next option was trying to schedule for the same day; however I would not be able to return till the evening. There site and voicemail says they close at 8pm Mon-Sat. I asked for the latest appointment even if I lost my deposit which was 7pm, I was than told “oh no we close at 7 on Saturdays”. I did not argue. I did not want to make a scene or raise my voice with clients getting their lashes done. I was obviously frustrated. I paid for a cab there looking to see what could be done and was not given any care. I asked for the 6pm not knowing if I would be able to make it back in time. After I arrived at my other appointment I called back 1 hour later and decided to reschedule (not wanting to add additional fee’s if I was unable to make the appointment and not call back within 6 hours to cancel) to the next day however the tech I wanted would not be working. I decided to book Sunday they proceeded to tell me I would be charged for 2 weeks instead of 1 week even if I went the next day because it was out of my 7 day time frame. I agreed, however after I sat down and thought about how I go faithfully get my lashes done weekly – bi weekly for over a year and tip 20%. I am a very cheerful easy going client, even when I had to wait on a lash techs after booking an appointment when they were running behind I never complained, I could not get the same understanding. I would totally understand if they charged me the 20 but kept the 1 week refill or told they will honor my deposit but have to charge me for the 2 weeks since I am waiting for a specific tech, but there was no compassion understanding etc, I work in customer service and expect a high level of customer service especially for my loyalty and consistency. I spent thousands of dollars at the particular location and they could give a damn. Again prior to this I would have continued going here, however I like to spend my money where the business respects and cares about their clients not just see dollar signs it was not about the money it’s the principle they do not value long...
Read moreI don’t like leaving reviews unless I feel that something is a rip off or the quality doesn’t match the experience or service. So I came in here about a month ago, I came from another lash studio with lashes and they did a fill for a good price but then two days later all my lashes were on my pillow and I’ve had lash extensions since 2013 so I do know how to take care of them. So then with this being said, I came back after two weeks but their prices are not consistent and it feels tho that they are trying To scam, because then she said I need a 3 week fill and that if I want them more fill it should a glam fill which is $20 more so that bumped the price to $100. Now then only a week later all my lashes so fast, and they were so stuck together, you could tell that they were the cheapest uplift lashes, I go in and she says there’s no one week fill only two weeks for $65, and then I said could have lashes that were a bit lighter and would last longer, but that’s $20 more so now I given this salon over $400 in just less than a months time. I have never been cheated out of a salon more than this one, I feel honestly hurt and really upset that the quality doesn’t match. I hope in the future, one will chose a salon with consistent prices and a place that really cares for their clients because this is certainly...
