As a long time (20 years now) Park Slope resident I cannot speak more highly of this local, family owned and operated gym. Having a local and efficiently run gym in the Park Slope area for years has saved me hours of time, it's almost like having a large home gym it's so convenient. Also, as a 45 yo male who still lifts (or tries to) as he did 25 years ago in the mid 90s and have been training (in some fashion) since the age of 16 I have a thing or two to compliment about the gym. First, it's ultra clean, not just clean but ultra clean (and this was the case before the event of the past two years -- cleanliness is not a recent policy but a commitment from ownership since the beginning). Second, there is a great atmosphere for all types of people, age and ability are not judged. The fellow patrons are considerate and tend to focus on their workouts. Third, the ownership is dedicated. Example: one day a few months ago I was distracted and forgot my cleaning spray bottle from the front desk. The staff reminded me to go get it. That was the right thing to do. Just because I've been a member for over a decade does not mean I can skirt the rules. We have to be mindful. Finally, the staff are great. They tend to stick around for a while and you get to know them. Totally recommend...
Read moreI used to belong to a different gym in the area but found myself going infrequently, so I cancelled that membership and joined Slope Fitness mostly because of its proximity to the Food Coop. I got into a nice pattern where I'd get in a workout around 8:30 or 9pm and then get groceries afterwards. The pandemic, of course, brought this good habit to a standstill. Gyms were completely closed for a while, but as they reopened, the folks at Slope Fitness were very transparent and accommodating when I asked to keep my membership on hold. And once I was fully vaccinated and ready to exercise indoors again, they were happy to welcome me back and show all of the safety protocols they'd put in place. I've felt very safe there, plus both before the pandemic and now, it's never been too crowded when I normally go. If you've been considering a membership, I recommend it. Slope Fitness is a neighborhood asset and I'd like it to be here for...
Read moreI am so very pleased with my membership at Slope Fitness. I left my old gym after many years because the place was really falling apart. Now, I'm glad it happened. I was cautious at first as it seemed small but that has never been a problem. Lots of equipment but members are so careful to respect your space and it all works smoothly. . . . Members do not hog the space or equipment (YAY) The courtesy is contagious. It is rather low-key without the flash, bells & whistles of some local trendy places but very conducive to getting a great workout. I workout more frequently now and stay longer. The personal trainers all seem really dedicated (I'm using Vadim and it is a really good match). Staff is friendly and attentive. Everything I want and...
