I purchased my dress at Lotus Bridal and it was SO FRUSTRATING. I had high hopes for Lotus Bridal as the stylists were all very friendly and there is a wide selection. However, their advising was inaccurate: they said that the bust could be altered a particular way and thus I went ahead with the purchase.
They were also misleading with the other alterations possible, and if I had known that they weren't possible, I would've never gone with the dress I did. At the end, the bust was completely messed up and not the shape I wanted at all. I was so distressed - what a shame as this is once in a lifetime! I don't believe it's up to the customer as a first time buying a dress that is so important that they cannot trust their words. Seems that their expertise was lacking.
I had to pay for additional Ubers and go back multiple times because the gown just still wasn't right. Then the seamstress tells me that they ordered a size way too big for me and that's why the C cup bust now looks completely deformed when trying to alter it to fit me. Not only that, but only on the day of the wedding, did I find that the top was too loose. It kept sliding down and my friends even asked me if I had purposefully lost weight before the wedding because they noticed that there was awkward gapping. No, I didn't and in fact the alterations were "finished" just a week before the wedding.
Not only that, but the cups kept COMING OUT of the actual bust. There was a strange folding and the edge of the bust kept sticking out and it was such a shame because I loved my hair and makeup and everything otherwise.
As nice as the stylists and seamstress was, I just didn't feel taken care of. If we have to pay over $1,000 for alterations, it better fit my body right. But at the VERY LEAST, not have basic errors like the whole top seam being too loose and the cups not being attached to the actual bust. On the bright side, I think the pictures still turned out okay but you can still tell in the photos there's weird gapping and folding at the bust and the top part of the gown is literally what gets shown the most in pictures. With something so important, I just feel really sad that even after me trying to be so proactive and asking questions, that I was still let down with an ill-fitting dress, simply because I'm not an expert in...
Read moreI'm a naturally very anxious person, so going wedding dress shopping as a concept was daunting to say the least. Michelle D and the team at Lotus Bridal put me so at ease.
From a stylist perspective, Michelle was incredibly welcoming and took a lot of time to discuss what I was looking for. She started the appointment by pulling options that matched my descriptions and were also lower than the budget cap I gave - I could tell she had my best interest at heart, and wasn't just trying to hit the top of my budget. I tried on a dress where I was talking about small details I wished it had, and Michelle was so attentive that she immediately said "Hang on" and ran to grab exactly the dress I was describing (and ended up purchasing)! Before starting this journey, I had wished that I could just browse and try things on myself, but Michelle was proof that having a stylist who can sense the nuances of what you're looking for, will encourage trying some different styles, and knows every style available is crucial to the process. The dress I purchased is not what I thought I'd wear when starting to shop, but it's better than anything I could have imagined. It's well known that bridal dress sizes are just weird. When ordering, Michelle was meticulous about retaking my measurements multiple times against the specific dress order sheet to ensure I ordered the size right for me, and spending ample time explaining her size recommendation to me.
As a showroom, Lotus has a great selection of affordable options in endless styles. I thought I would end up finding more luck at a single designer's showroom, but I found in my try-on process that having the ability to access multiple versions of the same style vs the same designer was crucial, and allowed me to more easily find exactly what I wanted. I'd been to 3 other showrooms before Lotus, and can guarantee Lotus is extremely price competitive,...
Read moreDon’t hesitate to BOOK HERE!! I went to 6 boutiques and the prices and service at Lotus Bridal CANNOT BE BEAT.
My budget was 2K and they were the only boutique I went to that actually had a ton of dresses in that range. They have a huge inventory and the dress I said YES to ended up being under my budget which felt like a true miracle in NYC.
The space itself is gorgeously decorated, well-lit, with comfy couches right near the bride so that friends and family can truly be apart of the experience. This is a big differentiator compared to kleinfeld and other boutiques where the bride changes in rooms away from guests and then walks through the boutique to show them the gowns. This is also the only boutique where my stylist (Liv) let me walk down a mock aisle and even had a mini faux flower bouquet to really envision how the dress would FEEL on the wedding day.
It took me going in 3 times to finally make a decision, and Liv was patient with me even though I was indecisive and changed up the vision of what I wanted a few times. Liv was an absolute star to work with, and she was really creative when I showed her a photo of my dream dress. She presented me with many options on how to achieve my desired look with lace toppers and customizations by their seamstress.
Lotus bridal was recommended to me by a coworker, it is highly reviewed on Reddit, and my friends who came shopping with me already can’t wait to come here when they get engaged. Other boutiques are charging a 30-60% markup for the same exact gowns by the same designers. Even the cost of their in-house alterations is 40% less than any other boutique is quoting. In such an overwhelmingly expensive city, Lotus bridal is a breath of fresh air for brides who are on a budget. And most importantly, they treat you with the utmost attention and a luxury experience no matter what...
