First night in New York and we had a hankering for a cheeseburger. As reviews looked good and it was close to our hotel, we gave it a shot!
Now I apologise in advance for my photos. The bar was dim and couldn’t get a clear photo of the food, drinks or seating.
This small burger joint has a capacity of around 70 and was almost totally full, so clearly popular. You can choose to dine indoors or out but with such warm weather, dining indoors with air conditioning was a must.
We ordered The Little Italy burger and The Patty Melt burger. We added a serve of fries, coleslaw plus two margaritas and a sangria.
The Little Italy Burger meat was 5oz which seemed a little small. It was cooked as requested. The Patty Melt which is served on rye bread was tasty and a nice portion size but nothing to rave about.
My sangria was just okay. I’d come from Phoenixville where the sangrias were some of the best I’ve had travelling my around the globe. This one was a little “watered down” with no real cinnamon or brandy flavour.
My only other criticism is that it is a visual and audible overload. Music and chatter of 60 people, along with multiple tv screens showing sport and lifestyle programs. All in a dimly lit space. We literally couldn’t hear each other across the table and taking any photos was challenging.
However, a big shout out to the staff, in particular Adrianna who was fast, efficient and very attentive.
The total bill was $112 which seemed rather steep. $17 for a margarita! They are less than half that during happy hour from 4-6pm.
I hope you have a better experience than we did. We’re off to find another...
Read moreIf I could give this place zero stars I would. Let's start with the food. Mediocre at the very best. Bland, everything is an add on. Most importantly, this was by far THE WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE I'VE EXPERIENCED IN MY LIFE. I was part of a party of 2 and literally ignored the entire time. We sat down and I watched our waiter walk past the table 8 times, take orders and serve others that came after us while we just waited. Finally when he took our order, he had so much attitude!!!! I'm wondering if I'm imagining it, but when he comes back with the drinks, I ask for a straw, he literally SLAMS them down on the table and rolls his eyes. I watched him interact with every single other table. Rolling his eyes at me ever time. Not once did he ask if we needed anything, if the bland food was good (which it wasn't). Finally when we needed the check, my date had to flag him down & even then, we waited an additional 15-20 mins before he came back. He came back, cleared my dates finished food & not mine. I was treated like I was invisible the entire time & I can 100% draw a conclusion based on how he interacted with me vs. my non black bf & the other patrons why I received this treatment. This is first and will be my only impression of this place. Rude, racist, and bland.
UPDATE-- the owners original response provided an email & asked me to reach out so they would speak with me further & address the staff about my bad interaction. I reached out to them and NEVER receieved a response. They have also edited the initial response...
Read moreLet me say I was referred to eat here yesterday morning. So we made a reservation. We got here like 20min early. It was empty. I told them I had a reservation at 4pm for 2 people. Gave my name. Lady sat us at a table. Cool.... We had some wiggle room. Space was limited due to the size of the location, but it was very empty. we order and My daughter and I are talking about our day and a man(must be a mgr) comes over and rudely says are you guys 4 or not. I politely said no we are 2. He says well then you have to move. The bigger tables are for our larger parties. Cool no problem. Just so you know we told your hostess we were only 2 of us. He bypasses 3 high tops and moves us back to right in front of the bathroom door that is shielded by a curtain that doesn't close. I ask for a different table because that's gross i am not eating my meal near the rest room. The lady now walks us again past now 2 empty high tops for 2 and sits us by the front door hostess stand so now every time the door opens we get the cold and people breathing on us.
The food was not great. You could get a better burger at Five Guys. Fries were not salted and bland.
We were there all of 35 min from start to finish. What would have been the issue to leave us at the table. I completely understand if the establishment was jam packed. I would have not had an issue and would have moved graciously. The face that we were spoken to rudely and pushed around like a $ amount, was the reason this made upset.
Not my...
