First of all, I am the last one to write bad reviews but had to write this. If it were possible to give negative ratings you would get the lowest negative star rating possible and not even be close to how bad this experience was. If the Earth were to implode and create a black hole, the black hole would spit this place back out. The only reason this reservation was endured was if we canceled, we lost over $500. How this property is still allowed to operate is a question I cannot find an answer to. The fact that they are allowed to partner with travel and booking businesses is a shame. Here is our experience. Take it for what you want. Let's start this at the beginning. When this hotel was booked over a month ago we were told they would accommodate and not charge us for a service animal. 3 weeks before the check in date they tried to pre authorize the amount for the room. When we called to find out about this, we were forced to deal with the rudest manager, Tiara. She gave us rude attitude then abruptly put us on hold. She said they weren't sure if our service animal would be able to stay free of charge. She questioned us about his service papers, which is illegal. In regards to the pre authorization, initially she told us they put a hold on the card 10 days before the check in. She later changed it to 10-15 days. They tried to do it 20 days before our stay. Finding the hotel was the next challenge. All of the pictures posted showed a well maintained building. This was not the case. The building looked nothing like it's pictures. The building is dilapidated and in disrepair. Entering the hotel was paramount to walking down a hallway. There were large tiles for fleeing which do not provide service animals any treating for walking. They have sections of the tile taped and covered with rubber mats taped to the floor. When we got to the reception desk, we were given the information about where to park the vehicle and that they would give us a discounted rate for being a guest of the hotel. The discounted rate was more expensive than we were told previously. Next thing is the elevator. The limitations say 1,000lbs or 6 persons. It is almost impossible to fit 3 adults in it. That's if you're lucky enough to enter the elevator before the door closes on you incredibly fast. The elevator closed on us numerous times as we attempted to enter and exit the elevator. Getting to our floor, we looked for the direction of our room. The rooms were only listed to 314 but our room was #318. Entering the room was like entering a closet. Cramped, stuffed with 2 double beds and no other room. The amenities listed for the room were clearly lacking. They're was a fridge that only worked on our last night, a plug in heater in the corner, a wall mount ac unit and a tv locked in a box on the wall. In the room there were 2 very narrow windows. One overlooked the street the hotel is on, the other one led to a pleasant view of a brick wall. There was no place for luggage to be placed out of the way. The sheets were dirty and stained. The one bed sagged horribly on the side that the person laying there feel to the tile floor between the 2 beds. The room was dirty and had a lingering odor in it. The bathroom was just as bad as the room. The pedestal sink was unlevel. Above the sink they mounted a soap dispenser. The bathtub housed a dispenser for soap and shampoo. They had a commercial grade shower trim with a showerhead and optional handshower. However, the handle used to choose the use of the handshower was missing. When the water was turned on, the stem of the handle for the handshower leaked water into the tub. The water backed up in the tub and took forever to drain. The towel...
Read moreMy family and I (2 adults and 1 child) spent our last holiday week at this hotel from August 18th 2018 to August 25th 2018.
It was the most ridicules hotel we have ever stayed in. The dimension of the spaces we had to work with was hilarious at times. It was very small. Those featured pictures lied to us.
The bathroom was spacious and really nice, but the sleeping area was small. We slept on beds that would move when you rested on it. I had to ask my husband to push the bed back into position, because I did not want our 7 year old daughter to fall between the wall and the bed. The television was tiny and as for the ironing board, it looked like something from my daughter doll house.
The windows were sealed shot and we were asked by management not to leave on the AC unit overnight. Now that would have been impossible, the windows do not open, the room is sealed, no ventilation and no fan. How are we supposed to get a restful night sleep?
The rooms were cleaned every day and the towels were changed. We just had to ask for an extra towel on 4 occasions, because they thought only 2 persons were staying in the room and really there were 3 of us. We had to purchase mothballs and put it in our suitcases, because I killed 2 small roaches and did not want to return home (Trinidad) with any insects in out suitcases.
The staff for most part was customer friendly, except for this one guy who did not want to give us his name when I asked for it. He gave me the Manager name. When you are booked into the hotel, you are asked to pay a $50 deposit and a 5X6 cm receipt is given to you. When we checked out of the hotel on Saturday 25th August 2018 at 11:35am, we were asked for the receipt and we told him we did not have it. He said if we cannot present that piece of paper as proof of us paying the deposit he will not be able to give us our deposit.
Now that was impossible as I had to direct him to their computer that would have stated that a deposit was paid. He then checked it and said yes the deposit was paid in cash but we still needed to present the piece of paper to get our money back. Now it would have been impossible for us to present it because the house keeper when they cleaned they throw out the receipt as well as my 2 containers.
Now this had me thinking, is this a ploy by this ‘hole in the wall’ hotel to get extra cash from their guest because they know some will have their receipt while the majority will not. At the end of it all, as I fought my case we were given back our deposit.
I cannot and will not recommend this hotel to anyone. Location is not everything but your safety and comfort and peace of mind is it all, especially when...
Read moreI know there are a lot of negative reviews on here. First off if you are expecting the same kind of hotel as your major chains you will be disappointed. This is not that. I priced hotels in the area and they were outrageously expensive. I booked it because the reviews at least said it was clean and because it was located near where my daughter was doing her theater workshop. We expected it to have an older boutique type feel. We were not disappointed. For the price i was very pleased.
It was me a 50 year old female traveling with 4 teenage girls. We always felt safe coming and going in the hotel. It was quiet and our room overlooked the street. We had 2 double beds and a twin so that was an amazing arrangement for our group.
The only negative i would give it was the beds are adequate. I wouldn't say they were the most comfortable i had ever slept on. The hotel could upgrade those and help themselves. But i have also slept on a lot worse. The beds had clean sheets and nice bedding.
The bathrooms although they had older fixtures are also clean. We had plenty of towels for our motley crew.
As others have said it was very well located. Easy to get to a lot of the activities you would be interested in doing. And if you need a subway Penn station is 2 blocks away. The front desk was always super helpful. We were grateful for the luggage locker on the day we left so we could stow our luggage until we were done exploring the city.
If we are ever back in the city overnight we would definitely consider staying...
