I'll never go back to this place. They don't even deserve one star. I just went there for fitting Tuxedo for my friend's wedding which my friend, bride arranged for me. I walked in and explained to a salesman (I should have gotten his name) why I'm here. Then he just told me to "take off your sweater". It was almost a command. Then I asked him if he wanted to check his computer first if he could find my name. He just insisted on me taking off my sweater and I did. Then he started measuring me without any explanation. He then told me to come and gave me some jacket. I then told him what I needed was a tuxedo not a jacket, but he just "commanded" me again to put it on. I then told him that this was my first time to be here and I was not sure how thing worked out, so please explain to me. Then he finally "reluctantly" explained to me that the jacket was to make sure the size was ok. Then I can go to a counter very in the back and ask another sales person for a tuxedo. I started feeling uncomfortable, but I followed his instruction.
I went to back of the store and found a counter for rental. Again, sales man there didn't know how to treat customers. He somehow found my name in system and arranged shoes. I tried 3 sizes, but he didn't move from his computer or didn't even stand up. He was not really helpful to find right size out for me. This was not really big deal to me though. Then he told me to come back here before 3 days of the wedding. Again, I told him that I'm here for fitting, so I have to try tuxedo and make sure the size. Then conversation was like:
sales man "you've already tried jacket earlier" me "but it was jacket, not tuxedo I'm renting. I have to make sure if tuxedo I'm renting fit me and also they look ok on me" sales man "we don't have any tuxedo" me "no, nothing at all?" sales man "no at all" me "then if I come pick up tuxedo here before 3 days of wedding and the tuxedo didn't fit me?" sales man "we will then change" me "how? you just said you didn't have any here. I doubt you will be able to get another one in 3 days" sales man "we will change"
My friend stepped in and asked him if he had one size down and they had. I might have had to ask such thing specifically, but his attitude was not professional at all. He didn't give me any suggestion, but keep telling me to come back 3 days. Because I was only renting? I was still supposed to pay $200 which is still big money to me. I have to travel before wedding and tried to get advice from the sales man how we can work out to arrange, but he was again not helpful at all. I then decided to leave as it's not worth for me to spend more time there as I didn't get any customer service.
My fiend suggested me to get tuxedo at Club Monaco as I could still get one nice enough around $500 or a little bit more, then I can still keep them and re-use for any occasion in the future. I think I'll listen to my...
Read moreMy girlfriend and I went into the Chelsea store in NYC because I need to buy a suit for my niece's wedding next month. The salesperson was very nice and helped my try on a number of suits. The one I was interested in was an Egara suit, and the salesman told me that there was currently a special where I would get a free shirt and tie with the purchase of the suit. Great. I was ready to buy it. The salesman told me that only slim fit shirts were available for the offer, and I asked if were possible to substitute another kind of shirt. He said he would ask his manager. When he did, the manager said no, looked at me, and said I wasn't even eligible for the promotion. When the salesperson asked why, the manager looked at me and said "look at him, he's not going to a prom" (I'm in my 50s). He said that only people actually going to a prom could get the promotion. Both my girlfriend and I thought this was absurd (why should you care where we wear a suit after I bought it) so my girlfriend asked him to show her the policy that stated the suit must be worn to a prom. He printed out a piece of paper that had not a policy, but merely a description of the promotion. It said nothing about having to wear it to a prom. It did, however, say that it was a "Wedding/Prom" promotion, and when I saw that I said, "Well it says wedding/prom, and I AM going to a wedding, and I can prove it." The manager then doubled down and said "what's your wedding group?" I had no idea what he was talking about - I have no idea what a "wedding group" is and he wouldn't explain further. I asked for his first name so could follow up with the corporate office and he said "I don't have to give you my name."
The long and short of it is: I was denied a promotion that should not exclude older people, and if it does, it is likely illegal. I was ready to shell out over $300 for a suit, and you didn't want my money,. The manager was extremely rude and dismissive and when we saw that he wasn't going to budge, we went and bought my suit from another store.
This was my first, and definitely my last, visit to Men's Wearhouse. My experience was negative from start to finish, and I would never go back and certainly never recommend the...
Read moreNot a good experience renting tuxes from this location. Went to be measured in August and didn't feel there was good customer or attention to detail from the staff on that first visit. For example I had to start with a shirt that was multiple sizes too small and work my way up through many shirts to get one that fit right. Picking up the tuxes was even more of an issue. On the morning of the pickup day, neither my partner or I received a confirmation text that our tuxes were ready. We tried calling the store between 10a (when the store opened) and 11a and no one answered. Very unprofessional and frustrating to not answer the phone during business hours. My partner went to the store and was given a shirt with sleeves that were slightly too short and a vest that completely didn't fit. When he questioned this to the salesperson he was told it was fine and that's how it was supposed to be. Only when he pushed back and the tailor took a look was he given a new vest and shirt. The pants and vest still weren't totally right so he had to add suspenders to the order (and go back on a different day and wait 20 minutes to pick them up). What is the point of being measured months beforehand if nothing is going to be right when picking up the tux? They also tried to pack up the shirt completely wrinkled. I didn't get a confirmation text for the tux pickup until 1p and went to the store later that afternoon. I too was met with unhelpful sales people. One asked "you want to try on?" as if it was an inconvenience. I also had the issue of the shirt's sleeves being too short and had to push to be given a different shirt. I'm not sure if it's laziness or incompetence but no one who works at this location seems to be able to help, which I thought would be the main benefit of going to Men's Warehouse in-person. I used The Black Tux previously and that was a much smoother experience even though it was entirely virtual! Would never return to this location again and would likely avoid Men's Warehouse in general in the future after...
