I was told to arrive at 4:45. I did and the stylist was still with a customer. She didn't apologize, let me know when she'd be done or seem to pick up the pace. She didn't offer me a drink so I took out my own water and went to the hallway to drink without a mask. 30 min from my arrival she was ready. She then offered a water and I never was told why I had to wait 30 minutes. After a very confusing discussion I was told that the look I wanted was bayalage. I had a deal for a full head of highlights plus blowout (listed as $239 on their website). I thought bayalage was a type of highlights or that highlights were either bayalage or foil technique. But she said I was wrong and her bayalage started at $200. So, I asked what my options were, she said to cancel my deal. I thought she'd say bayalage with my length would cost $300 and since I had the voucher just pay $61 more. But she made absolutely no attempts to give me the style I wanted. I don't get it. I might have gone for an upcharge since I'd already waited 30 minutes and blocked out my Friday night for this šŸ¤·šŸ¾ā€ā™€ļø and my deal was for $239 highlights (I'd paid $129). I tried to be as upfront on the phone calls as possible to avoid wasting time. I told the lady that I had a LOT of hair and it's in sisterlocks so I'd like someone that could handle natural hair. I said the blowout might not work, to do it they might need a wide tooth comb. I tried to work out any potential problems in advance šŸ™‡šŸ¾ā€ā™€ļø

I visited Mint Salon a few weeks ago for a color consultation with Charlene. It was the first time coloring my hair, so she asked me to come in to do a strand test (I have a relaxer) and then we would go from there. Upon arrival, Charlene asked me to wash my hands and ensured my mask was properly affixed to my face. I was then offered a robe and a private space to get dressed (a plus!!). She proceeded with the strand test and made suggestions along the way regarding the color process, maintenance and overall care. The full experience was FANTASTIC!! The salon is well-lit and beautifully decorated. As we moved from station to station, Charlene sanitized each surface before and after use which made me feel at ease (this was my first time visiting a salon since February/pre-COVID). I am IN LOVE with my color and would 100% recommend Charlene to anyone with a relaxer who wants to ADD COLOR. So...so...so happy!!

Charlene is absolutely the best. I really wanted to have full long hair for my wedding and wanted to have the best possible extensions in the market - NBR. At the same time, I was a little concerned to do extensions as I was worried it may damage my natural hair. Charlene handled all my concerns like a pro - answered all my questions and made me feel comfortable with the decision. I can’t express how much I love my hair now! It makes me feel like the best version of myself and I really don’t think I’ll ever take the extensions off. It’s THAT good. Charlene also did custom color and highlights for me that blended my hair with extensions perfect. Well.. I feel like a Victoria secret model.. so thank you thank you Charlene!

I had a wonderful experience at Mint Salon recently! Upon arrival it felt different than other salons I’ve visited in NYC. It felt private and exclusive- but not pretentious. As soon as I entered the salon, I was greeted warmly and offered all the things you want from your salon - a warm drink and cozy seat in the studio. The vibe is relaxed, but luxe and cool. After a very short wait, I met with both the stylist and colorist and discussed my goals and concerns. We finalized my new look after reviewing some photos and then my transformation began. The stylist, Yelena, was amazing - she spent lots of time technically cutting my hair before color. She came back to me after the cut and fine tuned my cut. I was smoothly switched over to the colorist, Charlene. She confirmed the color and tone with me before applying to ensure my goals were perfectly met. Before I knew it, VOILA! My brassy, blonde and broken hair was transformed into a glossy Chocolate medium textured bob. The change in the texture of my hair has been so satisfying- it was so dry and brittle and now is so smooth and shines. My new look is bold and yet matches my skin tone perfectly. It’s been about two weeks since I cut 5 inches and went to a darker color - and I have just fallen in love with...

I had to do a review as i'm so in love with my hair. I got my very first Balayage highlights at Mint Salon, and the owner Charlene was so professional and highly experienced ( of course I did my homework). Not to mention, the warm hospitality that I received from her staff. I have permed hair with years of dying it black so Charlene had me come in for a strand test and explained the entire process and gave recommendations prior to my actual appointment. She ensured that I understood the process since we were uncertain as to what color my hair would turn once applying the lightener. It was amazing to see the transformation of my hair and her knowledge as to what color would cancel out another for my desired color. I'm truly happy that I entrusted Charlene to do the job as she's definitely into hair care. She also styled my hair to perfection and I left the salon glowing with many compliments to follow. If you're looking to try something new and need someone experienced for the comfort of knowing if it will work for you or not, I definitely recommend Mint Salon. It has a nice homely vibe...and how can I forget the hot mint/iced tea that they serve. I'm a stickler for great...
