MoMA Design Store — Local services in New York

On Saturday, 2/12. I decided to take in the pleasant weather and partake of some light shopping. After a couple of purchases at Bloomingdale's, I stopped by MoMA Designe Store on Spring St. Upon entry I was rushed by an abrupt door greeter for proof of vaccination. I considered purchasing an art book and stood online to ask the price, as there were no associates available for assistance. I was signaled by a gentleman at the register by a rushed wave of his hand. He asked me how was I paying for the book, but I simply needed help for the price of the book. I thanked him, replaced the book and headed downstairs. While browsing, I saw a particular print and wanted to know the price. I approached the checkout stand and asked the worker for the price of the print. I provided her with the specific piece that I was interested in. She was rather gruff and replied that " I don't know what you're talking about." Then she said that the prices, unbeknownst to me, were printed on an unidentified door. I thanked her and placed my purchase atop the counter. She hurriedly and rudely rang up my purchases and I paid. I stood at the counter because she had not bothered to bag my pruchase. Next, she snapped and asked if I wanted a bag, to which I replied yes, please? I asked for her name because service like hers does not match the mission of MoMA.she said her name is Joan. And, barring personal problems, a crowded store, rude customers, etcetera, behavior such as what was displayed by that employee is unacceptable, unprofessional and totally unwarranted. I have never experienced such an interaction with MoMA staff in the 20 + years that we have shopped at the museum store, and the service received this past weekend, does not leave a favorable impression. I had to delete my previous review because Macy the manger was so amazing. I had a terrible experience in the store when I was profiled by the security who was following me on my visit on 3/27. At first I thought I was just being sensitive as I had not been out in public crowded places in over 2 years but after this security guard followed me all over the lower level of the store, I felt uncomfortable and decided to check out. While waiting in line standing by a pillar, the female security guard who had been following me invaded my personal space and crossed my path in a very obvious and predatory manner. I decided to be snarky and said "Hello again?!" to which she didn't reply. I had no idea but Macy the manager saw the interaction and was actually concerned enough to approach this security guard once I left. Fast forward to 3/31, I could not get this interaction off my mind and decided to reach out to the store directly to address it. To my surprise, the manager who saw the interaction was the one who ended up being the one I spoke with. The 4 star rating is purely for this manager and her professionalism. Thank you for treating people with respect and not gaslighting them when they bring concerns forth. You need to learn the difference between security and police . You want us to stop all the thief but you not doing your job correctly and your megs at the front door is not 100% accurate it goes off when people enter as well.
