Park Slope Nails — Local services in New York

I wanted to like this place. Nice location, clean, friendly staff. I called ahead to ask if they removed gelX nails, however the nail technician I had definitely did not know how to remove gelX dip powder nails and my real nails ended up very damaged and short.

After soaking in acetone (no foil wrap) The technician used an old metro card to scrape off the gel layer which was painful and it completely stripped and damaged my whole nail. I saw chunks of my real nail peeled off. The whole process felt extremely rough, sloppy, and took over an hour.

I gently pointed out the damage and they said there was “no avoiding it because I had fake nails, not gel or extensions” however I pointed out again that I mentioned they were gel extensions several times. Which they admitted to remembering.

She ended up buffing my nails and putting a clear coat to make my nails look a bit better but you can still see the damage. I took this photo after I trimmed my nails because they were all uneven and jagged. My fingertips are also extremely dry since they used the acetone soaking method vs foil wrap.

I don’t recommend coming here for dip powder...

I came to this place based on the reviews which said the staff was friendly and the service was good. Owner and staff were neutral at best.

The main reason I’m giving it 3 stars is because of the inconsistency in service. Other staff gave their customers the short typical neck massage when it came time to dry nails. The staff assigned to me did not. She basically just forgot about me once I sat down to dry. No cuticle oil, no checkin. Nothing. I didn’t feel leaving relaxed or anything. It’s an expensive nail place and for its price the service should be consistent and better.

The location is nice and big windows so you get to look upon the street while you get service.

I really wanted to love this place but I’m doubtful...

awful nail place i was quoted 172 for a gel pedicure and full set tips (which they told me they only do with powder ) but the first nail popped off that night ,then two the next day ,then the third day another one popped off ,i got so annoyed i just took the rest off and my gel pedicure the nail polish turned colors like a brown color ,i have been getting pedicures all my life and never seen anything like this ,im so annoyed 172$ down the drain ,im never coming here again i'll take my money ELSEWHERE ...powder tips isn't a good thing if they're gonna be popping off after customers paid good money ,and this cheap nail polish that turned colors on my feet is appalling to look at...
