Customer service 0/10. Listening to customers 0/10. If you want a place where you are bullied and insulted for NOT choosing the eyebrow style they want to use, you have found the right place.
I am writing the only accurate review for this place. As someone who has been here and given them (and Pinky specifically too) multiple chances, tonight officially took the cake. To Pinky, yes this is Becca :) so you can remember my name in perpetuity, and I want to thank you for inspiring me with your terrible customer service into actually writing a review.
To anyone writing a good review; I want you to ask yourself this; is your good experience only because your service was exactly what they wanted? If you gave alternative input, would they listen? Because from my multitude of experiences; they only will do a "good" job if they are doing whatever THEY WANT to do to YOUR face.
I like my eyebrows natural, thick, and straight across, with no arch. This is very different from the aggressively dyed and arched style that Pinky herself sports. I have had multiple experiences in the past where Pinky and the other workers have arched my eyebrows and took off way too much against my will. Therefore I have been growing out my eyebrows for a while. Tonight, I tried to avoid this over-thread/over-arch problem all together by just having them do the tops of my eyebrows instead, and I would do the rest at home.
Instead of listening to this request as many other places do; Pinky convinced me to let her try. I take responsibility for allowing her to "convince me" and I should have stuck to my guns. As sadly expected, too much was taken off the bottom of my eyebrow, and my eyebrows are too thin, yet again. I was resigned and totally prepared to accept my fate until after I voiced my displeasure Pinky started ARGUING with me.
Yes, in front of other customers, Pinky decided to try and convince me that the way that I wanted MY eyebrows on MY face was wrong. I am sorry if the owner's ego is so fragile that I, a girl in her 20's with young features, doesn't want her eyebrows, causes her to become confrontational and argumentative just because I said it wasn't what I wanted.
This culminated in her stating the style I wanted would make my face look "droopy". Her words, not mine. It is at this point where i stopped doing any further services and asked to pay for the eyebrows. She offered to not have me pay; but I will NEVER not pay for another human's labor. She did a job, a terrible job, and then argued and displayed the worst customer service, but she deserves to be paid and that is my sense of ethics so I chose to pay her even though I was given an alternative.
But the real karmic justice comes in the truth winning out. This is the truth of what happened tonight, and there was a poor white lady in the chair next to me as my witness to this insanity.
So, if you want to go to an eyebrow place where the only "acceptable" and "artistic" eyebrow threading offered is giving middle-aged-lady-of-the-evening-angular-with-bad-dye-job like the owner herself thinks is attractive, you have found the place. If you want a place that encourages you to have input, embrace natural eyebrows, and appreciate your voice in how your own face looks, this is not the eyebrow place for you.
Here are some alternatives that I use that at least ATTEMPT to listen to me: Lili's Waxing/Thread on 11th, Queens Beauty on A, and Brow Studio on 14th. I will be returning to those businesses who have never treated me that way before, even when voicing an issue. Pinky, this treatment of a customer is why you said your business was slow; not the...
Read moreIâve never had such an unsatisfactory experience than the one I had at Pinkyâs Salon. I happened to be in the neighborhood and needed to get my eyebrows done so I wandered in. Please note that there were no signs on the walls about services and prices, but I did not think twice as I have been getting my eyebrows threaded in NYC for 14 years and pretty much understand the price range of the service.
I sat down in the chair and they started working on my brows. While working, she asked me three times if I wanted to get an eyebrow tint, which I refused each time, as I have thick and dark brows naturally and so I have no interest. When my threader finished my right eyebrow, she asked me if I liked the shape and I said yes. She then proceeded to do the left brow which took quite a bit longer. When she finished and I asked for the mirror, I noticed that not only was my left brow thinner than my right, but also that she cut me with the thread in several places. My threader offered to fix the thinner brow by thinning out the other one, but I said absolutely not. Both the shape difference and the cuts were annoying to me, but I just thought I would get out of there and never go back.
When it was time to pay, I ask the price and to my absolute shock she told me $37. I have NEVER in my years of getting my eyebrows done in NYC paid more than even $20 in Manhattan or otherwise. $20 is honestly a huge stretch as the place I typically go to is $8. Upon my anger and shock about this price, the ladies working offered to get their manager who was downstairs. Her response to the situation angered me so much that I was brought to tears. I told her about the service not being up to par and also about the fact that the prices were not even displayed in the establishment. She said yes they are, and pointed to the computer screen which had a Gmail mailbox pulled up. She said I need to use this as a lesson to ask for a price before getting a service done and that I âalready came in here having a bad dayâ after I disclosed that it was a difficult day for me before this experience. After much back and forth she basically said she wouldnât be able to give any sort of refund, and that sheâs not the manager, but just the âmanager of the servicesâ and that if I wanted any kind of refund I would need to talk to the real manager of the establishment by leaving my phone number. Eventually because my threader felt bad she offered to give me a half refund out of her pocket, which I found to be kind, but unacceptable as no where should be charging such an exorbitant amount for such a simple service that you can get for significantly cheaper in the city. This experience really frustrated me and is just a warning to anyone who is considering getting their brows done...
Read moreIâve been coming to Pinkyâs for about 8 months now. They have completely TRANSFORMED my brows and lashes. I used to get threading done all the time & while it was MUCH better than waxing, I was never satisfied with my eyebrows. I just thought I was never going to have the brows I always wanted. The first time Rashmi threaded them, I was IN SHOCK when she showed me in the mirror. They looked so full & filled in - my face looked completely different (in the best of ways!) I also get the eyelash perm/keratin treatment & tint & WOW, this is where Pinkyâs really shines. With the perm, I donât have to wear mascara for weeks (and Iâm blonde with VERY light lashes). The perm has also allowed my lashes to grow in a way Ive never seen. I wish I took a before and after! I have nothing but great things to say for Pinky and all of her artists. They are not only amazing at what they do, but also so kind, warm, & welcoming to everyone who walks in. Itâs hard to find people who make you feel known & loved in this city, but Pinkyâs excels.
