Soogil is full of amusement. Every single dish was satisfying. The start came with 2 amuse Bouches; beef tartar and Foie gras mousse that freshed my mouth and pulled the appetite with the creamy finish.
The second was Yello tail with aged Kimchi. If I'm not mistaken, the Kimchi was 5 years aged. It was white and looked like chopped pickle but gave a whole different taste and added savor to this sashimi dish.
The third was grilled scallop and potato with Doenjang soup. The Doenjang soup was the kick of this dish and went really well with those two. Never had Doenjang like this. It was creamy, rich, and soothing.
Uni was served with rice wrapped in Gamtae, wild seaweed. Uni was very fresh, and its natural sweetness was perfectly matched with Gamtae, which gives the scent of the ocean.
Next was Black Cod with crispy Gochujang on top. This dish was cooked right, a light first entree.
My friend and I shared Nurungji Foie gras. Soy sauce poured around the crispy rice and foie gras on the grilled pan captured our eyes and nose. You cannot defy this.
Soogil's signature Beef Wellington was mesmerizing. Just got out of the oven and plated on the flowers. It's like a piece of art on canvas. The meat was so tender and juicy with full of flavors.
For dessert, they have chocolate cake or mango sorbet. Either gives you the right finish.
They have good options for drinks as well. We had Meursault 2013. It was a perfect pair.
Overall, I really enjoyed Soogil, and I'd say all the pleasant and lively experiences the chef tried to convey were fully appreciated.
I will definitely...

I’ll start with the food, since I could excuse everything else if it knocked it out the park, but it didn’t. There’s some extremely good stuff here, like the tofu soup, the glass noodles, and the pork belly, but just as many things are just completely bland, or worse, weird. The mackerel was virtually flavorless and served on rice wrapped in a leaf that was really chewy and hard to eat, like cheap dolmades. The Brussels sprouts were recommended by the waiter but just had no flavor to speak of at all. That said, it was all reasonably priced, so you won’t leave unsatisfied on that alone.
Unfortunately, there’s plenty else here to unsatisfy.
The service was not great - the staff was exceedingly pleasant, but outright bad at their job. They brought out the wrong food to our table and/or the table next to ours three times, they just kind of forgot about us at the beginning and didn’t take our order for a long time, and then the dude poured water all over my leg but didn’t even notice. I just wanted to run out of there at the end.
Finally, the drink program sucks. They don’t have any sort of liquor license, so there is no cocktail program and there isn’t even beer or wine available, but on top of that they have put zero effort into what they do have. I ordered green tea and it was legitimately a bag of Lipton tea.
I will give them credit, the dishes and the restaurant itself are all beautiful, and if they work through their problems this place could maybe shine, but right now there’s no...
Read moreSuperb quality & reasonable price! Highly recommended
There are 3 course prefix menu and 7 course tasting menu. Our server recommended we get 7 course since we could try little bit of each from the chef’s menu. We were afraid that it might be too much and heavy (who wants bloatness and food coma after?) but the foods were well proportioned and wonderfully accommodated each other.
We hoped to get the table but it was packed so we ended up at the bar. BUT the bar was more spacious so we ended up being more comfortable than sitting at the table.
Thought Sweet potato beignets would just be a filler but it exceeded all our expectations. Scallops came with an acidic buttery goodness flavored sauce that i want to dip in just about everything. I could have 5 by myself and even more if i decide to go against my new year resolutions.... as always.
Best dish of this experience was... (drum roll.......) FOIE GRA! Foie gra was smooth, perfect smell and cooked to perfection. Our informative server suggested to add uni and it is a MUST! That uni + cauliflower combination was so good!!
Everything was cooked well with great quality and even though spending almost $70 dollars seemed bit much, it was worth the price!
We were recommended with yuzu spice cocktail. It refreshes your palette so if you don’t mind some spice, it is highly recommended.
If i want to visit a place with my significant other or guests that provides high quality and cozy ambience, this place would be on my list. I will be...
