So, here is the updated and full review of what really happened...
I really, really wanted to like this place, it looked so adorable and most of the reviews sounded great too. When we visited, we immediately loved the decor, and staffs were friendly and welcoming. The food was pretty good also. What a shame.
The issue was that they brought extra food that we did NOT order. We told the waitress that, and she simply took it back. We didn't think too much about their mistake, but we found out we were charged for it after we already paid for the bill. Instead of posting a negative review, I wanted to give them a chance to do the right thing first, so I looked for a way to contact them.
I contacted them through their facebook page since there was not other way to contact them. The owner responded to me immediately, telling me to contact her via phone number she provided. I told her that I will contact her in the morning since it was late. The first thing in the morning, I texted her since I thought it was a bit too early for a phone call. I didn't hear back from her at all, so I reached out via phone call, more text, and more facebook messages. After a week of it, I gave them last chance by text, fb message, and phone calls. After the phone calls were declined twice, I posted negative review. Then, within half an hour, the owner calls me and tells me that she was out of the country, in Mexico, and she just got off the plane.
Two things here - First, she claims there is no wifi in Mexico, which is hard to believe. Second, let's say I give her the benefit of doubt, and that she really didn't have wifi while she was in Mexico. As a business owner, knowing that there is a customer who was wronged, and about to contact her via phone, wouldn't you let the customer know that you are about to go out of the country for a week and that she can't be reached? And for that reason, wouldn't you have a talk with a manager and make sure this situation will be handled while you are away? Instead of just go MIA for a week with out any notice??? Lastly, when she finally called me back (after the bad review), she told me that all she needs is the credit card information to process the refund... Well, if that was the case, why could't she say that at the very beginning, instead of giving me your number and telling me to contact her through the number? She could have said "here is my number and please send your credit card information for us to process the refund" instead of ignoring me for a week and maybe hoping that I will give up and go away??? (which is exactly how she made me feel)
After the negative review went live, they processed the refund the very next morning (they made sure to ask me to remove the negative review). But it took another 5-6 days for the process to be completed with credit card company. So, it took about 2 weeks to get a refund.
The way the issue was handled was very unprofessional. It left me feeling that they don't care so much about their customer, but they do care a lot about their review. Very disappointing. I will not be removing my negative review, since what I say is the truth, and I do not want to hide what happened or lie about it. Hopefully they will take this as a lesson and treat their future customers with...
Read moreAlthough my opinion of this location is ultimately one star, I will start off by highlighting that because of Chaneirys and the staff that assisted her we were able to turn around our experience on 6.19.22 for my grandmothers 70th birthday. Her customer service is exceptional! She took an incredibly bitter situation and turned it around with her Charisma and attention to detail! Kudos to her for being such a Gem in this location!
I am giving this location 1 star due to the lack of meeting contracted expectations and for the incredibly rude demeanor held by management. We had a contracted agreement to have my grandmothers 70'th birthday surprise brunch hosted at 2pm for 14 attendees. The staff was well aware the family will start arriving around 1:50pm to assure all will be present for a 2-2:10pm arrival of the birthday girl. A cake was dropped off by my mother earlier that day at 11:00am and all arrangements were solidified as well. Upon arrival, NOTHING was ready! My mom naturally upset that her mothers surprise was ruined asked where did the mistake occur. Whom I am assuming was a manager, as she failed to introduce herself, stated our table was supposedly being occupied by another party and the issue was that our party arrived late. I strongly recommend providing that lady with some additional training to better assist future difficult situations. She had no idea what our contract stated as she failed to review it before speaking to us, accused our party of tardiness and her delivery and demeanor only agitated the situation further. Instead of being apologetic for HER MESS UP, she was defensive and honestly just a nasty person to deal with. Ultimately, Chaneirys saved the day and brought us a round of champagne while they set our area up and proceeded to be available to all our guest.
There was another hiccup with the cake as well. We had a two tier, two pound Dominican cake. The cake was distributed in regular cake slices yet we only got back less than half of the bottom tier of the cake. If you are familiar with Dominican bakeries a 2 pound cake will feed about 30-40 people. At that point we didn't have the energy nor did we want to water our mother's birthday any further so we let it go. Still something odd to note.
As individuals that work in the hospitality industry and grew up in the area we truly are taken back by how this location handled a contracted agreement. This is truly something we have never experienced with other locations in the area and this is certainly not how we would ever handle our clients; we know better!
The location is aesthetically lovely, the food was served in a timely manner and was of great taste; But I would certainly never book an...
Read moreMy experience at this place is the worst I ever experienced. I am completely disgusted with my experience at this restaurant “Bocaditos Bistró”. Bistro in the name of this place us a joke. I have 25 years in the Hospitality Industry and had never seen this lack of class, ethics and customer service. Please read below so that you can avoid yourself a headache and your hard earned money.
I made a reservation for my mothers 70th Birthday. I contracted a brunch for June 19th at 2pm for 14 people. I specifically advised that the Birthday was a surprise and that the majority of my invitees would arrive at 1:50pm. I was told that wouldn’t be a problem and that they would have the table set up by 1:50pm so that my guests can wait and surprise my mother. On Sunday June 19th at 11am I came over with the birthday cake and balloons as part of the decoration for the table. I again confirmed that the reservation was for 2pm and that guests would arrive by 1:50pm. I was told they would be ready. To my surprise when my guests arrived they were told the reservation was for 1:00pm and that we were all late. My cousin explained and showed a screenshot of the agreement I signed where it clearly states my party started at 2pm. The “Manager” told my cousin that wasn’t an agreement. I arrived shortly after 2:00pm and nothing was ready. My guests were waiting in the back and made the best of surprising my mother. The “Manager” came over in a very confrontational manner accusing me of being late. I told her I’m not late, my reservation is for 2pm, I asked her what happened? She responded many other reservations were late as were we. Again I told her I’m not late and I don’t understand why nothing is done when I was there at 11am delivering the cake, balloons and reconfirmed everything. She then says: “Mi amor nosotros vamos a tratar de acomodarlos pero tienen que darnos tiempo” as if it was our fault they screwed up. I did not appreciate her tone and told her to bring her attitude down a few notches and fix the problem she created. 25 years in the Hospitality Industry and I had never seen such poor customer service. The Manager is highly disrespectful and confrontational. She doesn’t know how to manage and definitely has no sense of customer service. The last straw was when they cut the cake (2lbs.) and did not serve it appropriately, didn’t give me the cake topper and after serving cake to 15 people, came back with a piece of cake that was definitely way less than what I expected. Even the waitress couldn’t believe how badly they mishandled the serving of the cake. The server Chaneirys saved the day with an excellent demeanor and excellent...
