I have been coming to this salon on Kissena for many years. Do I speak any Chinese? No. Do they speak English? A little bit— mainly the words cut, wash, and layers. Do I enjoy my time here and the results each time? Absolutely. $25 for a wash and cut, you cannot beat that price. This is my favorite place in all of New York City to cut my hair for quality and pricing. There is a language barrier, but it’s nothing to be too worried of. I’m mainly writing this because they’ve been in business for so long (and are busy usually) yet I barely see any reviews. The lady who washed my hair was SO SWEET. She was scared she’d hurt me but honestly I told her to apply more pressure and she did absolutely that. She also gave my shoulders a massage which was AMAZING. The shampoo smells really good and they wash your hair twice to make sure all the oil buildup and dandruff is gone before cutting. The man that cut my hair was also very nice, I usually like to have small talk when I get treatments and services, so I used Google translate from time to time to talk to him. Contrary to the many reviews of them cutting it too short, he cut just the length I wanted and made my hair feel SO soft after. I take all my college friends here even though they don’t speak Chinese, and they all agree this is the best salon experience for the best bang for their buck. I cannot speak on color treatments and the quality of that, but they take walk in's for haircuts. I came on a Saturday at 4pm and it was not busy— I got lucky! Make sure to tip your hairstylist...
Read moreIf they ask you "can anybody cut your hair?" Dont say yes. They gave me a guy who thought it was best to cut my hair dry (1st mistake), i asked for a trim and he literally chopped OFF my hair, i showed him two pictures and he thought layers means "lets give two lengths of hair" Now my dark hair is severely shorter than my bleached hair. I was nice about it but you absolutely ruined my hairstyle and now i have to wait 6 months or more for it to grow back. Its not even on both sides either! If you don't know how to cut a woman's hair...
Read moreAfter bleaching my hair a lot, I wanted to dye a color so my hair color would be more even. The stylist said i could still do a purple hair and it came out super nice! On unbleached hair it’s more brown with a hint of purple and the bleached ends is brighter purple. Really pleased...
