I am absolutely stunned at the time, quality, and work Darren and his staff put in each and every one of their masterpieces. My experience at Rising Dragon has been phenomenal from the get go. Darren was able to meet with me on a short notice and was able to draw up a sketch in a relatively short time. In fact, Darren is so brilliant he was able to fuse polynesian elements in my samurai tattoo right on the spot and I never even thought of doing that, quite frankly I was amazed at the magnitude of creativity Darren was able to incorporate. Just by the way his mind works you can tell his 35 years of artistry just reflect on his demeanor and workmanship. Throughout the entire tattoo process he was patient, spent an incredible amount of time on the detail, and was very kind and accommodating when offering some numbing spray (I'm a big baby). I had a large piece done on my left pec so we spent quite some time and he educated me on some 70s rock and roll knowledge because the shop's music playlist was on point. Jamming out to Freddie Mercury always takes the tattoo experience to the next level! Overall, Darren and his team are incredibly kind and skilled people who will treat your tattoo like a delicate canvas and will not rest until everything is perfect. At the end of the tattoo experience needless to say I was ecstatic and completely blown away by the end result. I just love this place...! and my tattoo: awesome, awesome, AWESOME!!!

My first contact with the shop was on email, and already there I felt I was taken really good care of. Since my fiancé and I are traveling to NY from Norway, we wanted to book an appointment for the both of us. This was of course no problem at all, and after a few emails to find a day that was good for all of us, we were all set to begin customizing our tattoos. I sent my ideas to Darren ( I was lucky enough to get him as my artist just as I wanted:) along with some photos. After a little while he sent me the sketch of the tattoo and it was just the way I had imagined. My finaces artist was Paolino and they had a similar correspondence. Both were patient and helpful from the very first email. And Motoko, who helped us find and book a date, was very helpful to:)

On the day when it all should happen we actually met Paolino outside the shop and started talking to him and figured out that "Hey, we are his next appointment!" so he walked us straight up to the third floor and got to work. We were taken very good care of from the first minute and the shop looked really cool! My session lasted for about five hours, but I got many brakes that lasted as long as I needed. The phoenix that Darren had drawn came to life on my shoulder, and when the colors came on, it became magnificent. I am really pleased with my tattoo, and recommend everyone who want a tattoo from NY to go to this shop. It is really easy to find, and the artists are fantastic. This is one of the best places! We live in the Bay Area, CA. My wife and I traveled to NYC for her business. I knew I would have some time on my hands while she was working and I like to get inked in places I like-such as Dublin, Ireland or Boston, USA-when we travel. Having a great fondness for NYC it seemed like a great time to get a tattoo. I had an idea for a back of the calf design I’d been kicking around for a while. I contacted Rising Dragon via email with my idea about a week before our visit. Having had work done in a half dozen or so parlors I was pleasantly surprised to hear back from Rising Dragon in a timely and friendly fashion. After describing what I wanted via email exchanges with Motoko of RDT and putting down a cash deposit, an appointment was made for the work on our third day in NYC. From the get I was greeted with warmth and humor. The entire staff that I interacted with were/are genuine and friendly! What a pleasant surprise.

The Artist who performed the magic translation of my description to my leg is Darren, the owner of RDT. He is friendly, genuine and a very gifted tattooist! I could repeat that sentence over and over to the nth degree and not do justice to his skill or demeanor.
