Thoughtful. Understanding. Challenging. Beautiful. Patient. Nurturing. Worth it.
These are the words that come to mind when I think of SassClass.
This review is coming from someone who's never taken a dance class before. My curiosity in dance came from watching K-Pop music videos and dance practices. BTS, New Jeans, TWICE, EXO, Got7, SHINEE, you name it. I was particularly moved by the choreography of Swan Song by BTS ("BTS - Black Swan Performance (@2020 MMA)" on Youtube). Moreover, I was inspired by how free flowing and relaxed the movements are, but at the same time, how poised, restrained, and constrained, they are.
I thought to myself, I want to be like that. How can I do that? To dance like BTS? like TWICE?
So, I tried something I'd never tried before, and...I'm really happy I did.
The space is welcoming and calming; everyone is kind and nonjudgmental.
I took Emma's Taste of Sass classes in tandem with a practice in hot yoga, while at the same time, in therapy, I had questions like...what can I offer to the world? What is my purpose?
I was questioning a lot of things in my life, with my work, my relationships with others, myself as an individual. I was letting my mind take over my body too much, and what I've learned when that happens is: there needs to be a release from the body of some kind.
With SassClass, I learned to dance, yes, of course, and all of the choreography we did were soooo hotttt and sexyyyy and cuteeee and fun, but I also learned to listen to my body.
Emma gave us, the class, the opportunity to just be ourselves. She has a gift as a teacher and as a dancer.
During this set of classes, I saw myself succeed, I saw myself fail, I saw myself laugh, I saw myself cry (literally). What I learned from doing this is, when the body is taken care of, the mind is taken care of, and then...things just click.
Too long, didn't read?
SassClass is the place to go.
For a seasoned dancer, a beginner like myself, for someone who's danced before but quit and wants to try again, and everyone in between. The place is fun, nonjudgemental, and I met some really lovely people there. It was a worthwhile investment for me and maybe it can be...

I've tried my share of classes all around the city for the last couple years, bouncing between studios and instructors. Now I'm so happy to say that SassClass has become my home.
They offer an amazing selection of classes and dance video programs between Sexy Stilettos, Fierce Feminine Hip Hop, Burlesque, Chairography, and Contemporary Fusion. I've tried mostly all of them, and I LOVE them.
The instructors are ALL top notch, the studio is absolutely beautiful, and the energy in this place is amazing. There is no other place that I've ever felt such support from the staff and my fellow students.
I've seen girls who have never taken a dance class before walk out with more confidence in their movement. I personally have found a stronger confidence in myself after joining these programs! I am living my best life here.
Dance Video Programs: These are simply MAGIC. After 5 weeks of learning choreography, we make a music video on the 6th week. SassClass brings in an amazing videography and production team, photographer, and lighting director and the studio is transformed. We all get dolled up according to the theme and we slay the game. A couple weeks later, we see what we've accomplished. Check out the videos on Youtube! IT'S AMAZING.
Drop In Classes: My favorite weekly activity. This one hour allows me to explore movement, improve on my dance skills, and get my weekly werk on.
I even hosted my birthday here where SassClass provided a private one hour class for my friends and I, and I added on some time for photoshoot fun afterwards. It's a great place to do bachlorette parties too!
Every friend I've brought here loves it. Don't hesitate, get...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreSassClass NYC has become my personal happy space & community center. I have always been someone who loved dance but felt intimidated by other dance studios growing up. I always felt like people were auditioning and competing for attention (which is fine if thatās your intention/world) but as someone who just wants a good workout and a play to let loose, itās difficult. Until I found Sassclass.
I started coming in January 2019 after I was going through a job lay-off. My friend told me they had preview classes for their upcoming video programs and we could sign up through ClassPass so I did right away. I did the Sexy Stilettos preview with Sofia Marrapodi-bove and knew I had to sign up for her Move to Miami video program and Iām so glad I did. The 5 week program gave me something to look forward to weekly while I was figuring out my new job situation, challenged and motivated me to learn choreography and moves I wasnāt used to, & made amazing girlfriends that I look forward to seeing every week at drop-in sessions and get so excited with when we hear thereās a new video program coming up!
Iām now starting my 4th video dance program this week (I did two Fierce Feminine Hip Hop videos w/ Sophia and a private birthday video for me and my friends choreoāed by Sophia) and itās my first Sexy Stilettos dance program with Emma Rosa Bigelow! I am so excited to do programs with all of the SassClass instructors and even more hyped that most of the girls in this group are ones Iāve danced with in my previous videos and it excites me because itās incredible to watch yourself AND your sisters (bc this place truly makes you feel like family) grow as dancers and as empowered...
