If you are a POC-do NOT come here.
Tonight, on May 29th, I was denied service for absolutely NO legitimate reason.
I, along with 4 other individuals, were peacefully seated for dinner. We were all ready to order a meal along with waters for the table. Upon our placement at the table, the manager pointed DIRECTLY at me, and said he was not allowed to serve us.
Keep in mind, that I had not even spoken a single word to the staff, the host, or the manager.
I asked him why?
He looked at me: pointed at my shirt, and said I was too "intoxicated" to serve due to a STAIN on my shirt.
First, I was NOT intoxicated at all. I had literally not spoken a word to the host, staff, or server. Thus, the Manager formulated a conclusion about me without even speaking to me.
Second, when does having a literal JUICE STAIN on your shirt merit a denial of service? I told him that I was perfectly coherent, had done nothing wrong on his property, and simply was just here to order a meal.
To no avail, the hosts took away our menus and refused to serve me or anyone at my table.
I asked the manager why he was removing me along with the entire group?
He retreated to the back of the restaurant and refused to establish a valid reason for denying me service. He then let not one, not two, but THREE groups of ALL WHITE people trot right on in. They were served, seated, and hosted.
I continued to ask why I was denied service? The manager at The Keg Room provided me with no answer. He would not even hold a conversation with me, even after making false claims about my well being.
Not only is the management predatory at this establishment, but they are also accusatory. However, once they make an accusation, they simply run away and refuse to hold a productive conversation.
Please- do not spend a DIME here. If you are a POC, stay AWAY from this establishment. In 23 years, I have never been treated with such racism, unresponsiveness, and accusatory...
Read moreThe manager—Marty, I believe—was shockingly rude. It was a Knicks playoff game and the NFL Draft, and yet he refused to put the Knicks game on more than a few TVs, despite many patrons asking him not to turn it off where it was already playing.
At one point, I watched him berate a customer who politely asked to see the game. That escalated into him yelling at multiple guests—people who were simply there to enjoy the Knicks. There were more than enough TVs to accommodate the game, the draft, and even the NHL playoffs, but instead of finding a reasonable solution, he chose to be openly hostile.
Several of us left at halftime and found another spot that was showing all three events without any issue. For what it’s worth, our waiter was great and clearly uncomfortable with the situation, and even the bartenders looked embarrassed by the...
Read moreMy friends and I wanted to come to the city to enjoy the Christmas season. You know...Central Park, Christmas lights, a beer here and there.
We made a reservation at The Keg Room and were excited to have some dinner and drinks. There was a sign on the door "We do not partake in Santa Con"
Cool, we are not apart of Santa Con, no problem....is what we thought!!
My friend had on a red and green sweater and a Christmas hair barrette. She was told that we couldn't be served because she had Christmas colors on.
My husband had on a snoopy Christmas graphic tee. He could not be served because he had something on associated with Christmas.
Needless to say, we left that place feeling extremely angry.
They discriminated against eight willing customers simply because two out of eight of us had Christmas colors on. Makes no sense.
Merry...
