Sen Hair Salon — Local services in New York

My first-rate, nearly-famous hair stylist took a sabbatical, alas! For a month or two I let my hair grow and grow, and since I am older and such hair as I have is somewhat unruly, I duly recognized that I had to face th inevitable and find some new for the time being. I happened to be taking my daily constitutional and happened to pass Sens, and then quickly checked it out on my handy-dandy phone a saw that it was given 5-stars. Well deserved, as it turns out. Kouchon and his two women fellow-hairstylists gave me a courtly greeting, and then Kouchon took on the task. First a shampoo and an actual scalp massage. I was offered tea and as I sipped, Kouchon gave me a neck massage. We discussed how I wanted my hair cut and he delivered the goods! First rate haircut. A month later and I'm ready to go back, only Sens seems to be closed today, the day after Christmas. Nevertheless, I will wait. Kouchon is worth it! Four stars, so far, but it was only his first...

I just tried this hair salon for the first time today and saw Akiko. The salon is very convenient as it is located in Brooklyn right on Atlantic avenue. The space is welcoming with a backyard garden that you can see into. Akiko took her time speaking with me to find out what I was looking for with my haircut and to talk about what type of cut would work best for my hair. She then gave me the most wonderful shampoo and head massage, which was such a nice surprise. She took her time cutting my hair as we discussed and then finished the cut once it was blown dry. Amazing salon! Keiko has been my stylist twice and she is extremely kind, professional, and attentive. She remembered me and my previous appointment, even though I had only gone to Sen once and it had been over 3 months ago! I'm someone who usually just gives vague descriptions for my haircut (3-4 inches off with layers, nothing more specific) and she somehow knows exactly what I want and executes it perfectly. Her scalp massages are so relaxing. Chinami and the rest of the staff are also extremely friendly and welcoming. With the exceptional service, massage, and hospitality, Sen is absolutely worth the price. I won't go anywhere else...
