I’m new to sim racing but wanted to try it out. This place was nearby me and can be reached by the R train or a bus, even though it’s below Japan Village, you can check out the Trampoline park or Sweatbox Boxing nearby.
For the price, you get to try heavy duty equipment that can easily be $1k +++. Feedback from the sim racing rigs were very realistic and you get to try the VR equipment. The owner was passionate about this hobby and will be adding flight simulator equipment as well! I believe it’s worth it if you’re not able to stuff a big rig in your small NYC closet apartment but still want to race.
Lots of car influencers say sim racing translates well to real life, in addition to movies and other documentaries. The only con to me about sim racing is I don’t necessarily feel speed as a gut check as to an alternative such as 50cc go-kart up to 125cc, but go-karting pricing is only comparable at entry and also most competitive karting is in NJ or upstate, and enthusiastic (not professional) pricing is around $5k ++ a year if you have your own kart.
I’ll be coming back here! Hopefully to add videos and pictures to this review if I happen...
Read moreHad a blast at SHFT Club! I was in from out of town, the owner Matt was supper accommodating as I scheduled a last minute appointment. The rigs were phenomenal, had high end DD wheels, well calibrated load cell pedals, and lively motion simulators. As I was a bit of a noob, he was awesome in setting me up with a variety of tracks and cars; and even offered some constructive tips on driving. The experience was super elevated compared to my rickety sim rig at home, all the elements combined to make it feel like I was driving an actual race car. Great owner, fantastic equipment, chill vibe -- highly recommended this for new and...
