I was left alone in an UES apartment. How was I going to downsize to a one BR assisted living apartment? A moving management professional suggested I contact Andrea Baker at Showplace. Glad I did. Andrea acted quickly, but with no high pressure tactics. She came and took pictures, made a lot of notes, and got back to me the next day with an offer. The items I wanted to get rid of ranged from ordinary household stuff, furniture, fine china and bric-a-brac, art by Joan Miro, sculpture by Silas Seandel and a large collection of Steuben animals. Her offer was acceptable, and a move out date was set. Everything that was being taken away was marked with a color coded label. Andrea arrived on time on moving day with her assistant and moving team. Everything that was going was packed and loaded on to their truck. The whole process left me with a good feeling even though most of my possessions were going bye bye. Another nice thing. I had a sculpture that I wanted to ship to my daughter in Idaho. Andrea Took it and arranged to have it packed and shipped for me with no extra handling charge...
Read moreMy 93 year old mother died in October and my father was lost. Covid-19 was raging and I live 5 hours away in Massachusetts. Their New York City apartment was filled with years of living, artwork, clothing, furniture, collectibles and stuff. I didn’t have a clue how I was going to clear out the apartment and get it ready to sell. I called a few auction houses but received no call backs. Then I called NY Showplace Buyers on a whim, and they answered on the second ring. Shawn was so polite and knowledgeable and interested in my apartment. Within a few days we had an appointment set up to meet Andrea at the site. She was lovely. She took pictures of all the items in the apartment with an agreement to get back to me with a price they would pay us for all of the contents of the apartment and leave it empty and broom clean. We agreed on a price and they came over to the apartment until it was emptied. They paid me promptly and did everything we agreed upon. Everyone at Showplace treated me with professionalism and honesty. I highly...
Read moreI had a very long and arduous process ahead of me--to empty my deceased mother's apartment that after 45 years had become filled to the rafters. So, so many THINGS--some of it very valuable, some of no value, and lots in between. It was a sad and overwhelming moment for me. I contacted several companies but only Showplace Estate Buyers presented such expertise in so wide a range of categories--furniture, tabletop, paintings and most importantly for me, jewelry. The ability to do a one-stop approach was invaluable. The process required many phone calls and visits and they were on top of it every step of the way. Michael, Andrea (a woman who truly knows her stuff) and every single person on the team was attentive, smart and lovely to work with. They get the logistical and also the emotional aspects to this process. They know the market and they are fair. And they don't forget that they are handling meaningful objects that contain history and memories. I feel lucky to...
