My overall education received I will give a 5 star. But as for respect for alumni and help available to them I give 1 star. I completed my b.s in 3 and a half years, I got a scholarship for 8,000. I decided to attend because my best friend was attending and enjoyed the school. I also did not want to attend a CUNY, I wanted to try a private college, but not too expensive. My education received was great, the professors were friendly and well educated as well as had expierence in their related field. BUT I have to take a required course for a masters degree program, I would prefer to take it as SFC, so I ask if the terrier come home program applies and they say NO because I am not pursuing another degree. Well, Iâm sorry you donât provide my graduate program. CUNY wants to charge me 2,200 for one class, I asked if SFC could lower the rate since I graduate there and they made about 20,000 off of my degree? They flat out said no, unless Iâm pursuing another degree and would not discount the rate of 860 per credit which is about 400 more than CUNY. They wouldnât discount me anything AT ALL lol. I would never even consider taking a masters degree program, certification or any other course at this school again. It was very uncooth and disrespectful to not offer any discount especially seeing as they made an immense amount of money off of me. I graduate cum laude and would have attended their graduate school but they offer 3 limited programs with a crazy tuition. Save your money and go to a CUNY for your masters. Itâs okay for a undergraduate program but masters programs are limited and the amount they charge for the quality for care and respect for students is minimal. When I went the lobby and cafeteria area had classroom chairs and it looked awful, now itâs all done up and amazing looking lol is that what the extra charge is for ? I would have considered paying a bit extra but the way the man replied via email was kind of snark and annoying. You think they would treat alumni better. Oh well, whatever. They raised the tuition at lease 5,000 bucks in the 3 years I was there and if Iâd known that previously I would have saved myself the student debt and went to a CUNY đđ¤ˇđźââď¸ Professors get 5 stars. Other staff I give...
Read moreI transferred from here to Brooklyn College (CUNY) for my Sophomore year. What a mistake. Since last week I have now been dying to come back here and researching how I'm going to transfer back for Spring. If you're like me and been in private school or any small setting school your whole life, not only is this the perfect school for you- you will DEEPLY regret transferring because of the "excelsior" which is a complete fraud/lottery in itself.
After being in the 14th grade, I mean a CUNY, for 2 weeks- I can't even describe how much it'll make you appreciate and miss this place. Every room is air conditioned, it's clean, it's cozy, there's a strong sense of community despite the small size and the area is awesome. EVERY lecturer has their PHD and NO STUDENTS are teaching classes. They genuinely care about you, too. Their online programs to submit work is super easy (Unlike CUNY, where you have to use SIX different ones) and the professors answer almost immediately. Every professor I had the year I was there gave a thorough review for the midterm and final. They literally set you up to PASS.
Please take my word- if you went to a private school in BK, QUEENS, Staten Island, or wherever else- do come here, and definitely do NOT transfer out if you're already here.
Sincerely, A very regretful...
Read moreJaskiran Mathur was an authority figure that was entrusted by a student who reported an incident of discrimination among students. "Doctor" Mathur dismissed and minimized the studentsâ concerns and feelings. The following was this doctorâs plan of action: Send an email to all students, (excluding the student who was accused of discrimination), and asked them if they believed that the student in question was guilty of stating anything discriminatory. Mathurâs plan was to have other students âtake a voteâ through email, and see if they believed the accused student to actually be guilty. Mathur did not take the report seriously, and did not follow appropriate educational procedures and interventions to address the incident. Her response was performative, and lacked integrity. Her actions to the sensitive matter disregarded privacy concerns, opened up the fostered bullying/retaliation, lacked confidence, and invited bias and misunderstanding. Mathur showed a clear disregard for 1) addressing the incident directly (and appropriately), 2) maintaining confidentiality, and 3) following college policies. It is astonishing that someone like this is titled a professor...
