I love Rainbow stores for clothing and costume jewelry selection, but I HATE the security guards at the front. I’m sure they don’t get paid enough to be rude to customers especially because they are the first point of contact as you enter the store. I came in the other day with my husband and baby (in a stroller). The security guard watched as I pulled clothes off buffet racks to show my husband because I wanted his opinion. Not once did my husband leave the front of the store, and he stood by the door that they do not use. As I continued to browse the shopping selections, I overhear my husband asking someone to leave him alone. I barely even got halfway through the first floor before I had to turn around and see what the commotion was about. I thought it was a random shopper harassing my husband but noooooooo, it was the security guard. He was complaining that my husband was standing in then front of the store blocking the entrance (which he was not) and that my husband had to walk through the store with the stroller. First of all, anyone who has ever shopped at this location knows that those ales are super tight and you can barely even walk through let alone fit a stroller through. The security guard kept going on about him doing his job and how he wasn’t allowed to let my husband stand there and wait for me, as multiple ppl walked in and out of the store with large bags and backpacks. Anyone could’ve been stealing but he insisted on harassing my husband. I had to ask him who he got his orders form and he said that the company he worked for made him do that. I asked him several times to call his manager or leave us alone and he said “I’m just like you” while pointing to his arm. I insinuated that to mean that because we are all black we must agree with what he’s doing. I told him skin color and race had nothing to do with him being wrong so he could either let me shop or call his manager. He was the only one causing a scene and it was very distasteful to say the least. MTA security doesn’t even go that hard, and they actually have...
Read moreI was able to find the white shirt I needed for a work event and I really had to look around the store to find it and make an effort because I only have two days to find something to wear. The customer service could be better and I feel like instead of being watched the employees should just ask the customer if they need help, it's very awkwardly obviously that you are being watched. I am trying to be understanding because it's apart of the job I guess. Also the employee who completed my purchase had an attitude when I was trying to be polite and hand him my items instead of just dropping it on the counter. I felt like he really didn't want to touch me or something. So one star for me, I usually only work downtown once per week and don't really shopped often at this Rainbow store location. Probably won't really shop here again...
