Down graded from 2 stars to 1 for misrepresenting what happened to make themselves sound good. Here's my original review: 'Framed my picture with the completely wrong frame and board and did not apologize.'
The complete story is I selected a gold frame with a charcoal board which they said would be ready on a Friday. Went in on Friday and the frame was done with a black frame and white board. I told them it was wrong, they told me to come back the next day for the correct frame and did not apologize for their mistake. When I went back the next day they'd done the frame right but I didn't like it - what I thought were a couple of scratches on the frame sample was an intentional distressed look. Other frame samples definitely have scratches on them. All I wanted was a plain painted gold frame. They didn't have one and I couldn't find anything else I liked, so I accepted what I had and left.
I then posted my review about the wrong frame and not getting an apology. The guy started calling my cell non-stop and finally left a message saying he'd spoken to the company and would get a plain gold frame in for me and I should bring it in on Wednesday. I didn't respond to him because he only made that offer once I posted the review and I expected he would ask me to take the review down in exchange for fixing my frame. Then they responded to my review making it sound like they never framed it with a black instead of gold frame and it was me that was the problem. Good customer service means hearing feedback, owning your errors and committing...
Read moreThis frame shop used to be my go-to place. It's conveniently located in downtown Brooklyn on Jay Street. The pricing is usually not too bad. And the owner is charming. In the last year I have dropped off a total of 7 pieces on three different occasions. I have called to have them picked up no more and no less than SIX times. Whenever I call, they say they are terribly busy and they will return my call. I have yet to have any of my calls returned. I truly believe they have lost my pieces. One thing that is a little annoying is the location is right on Jay Street so there is zero parking in that area. This is the reason why I have been consistently calling. I also have a bad back so walking with those pieces is not an option. I will be going in personally next week after a pre-emptive phone call to let them know I will be coming to collect my pieces. If the pieces are lost or they do not have them I'm not sure how to proceed but the artwork alone is worth investigating a lawyer. In the last few years the quality of work has also declined. My guess is the bigger you get, the less you care for your long time loyal customers....
Read moreA nightmare. I ordered 3 frames from them, Black, minimal, wooden, 16x24. I got the frames back in 30 minutes and I headed uptown, I had to turn some works in to the gallery the following day. When I placed the works in the frames the tiny Black pieces in the back that hold the frame shut and keep the work securely in place, literally began to fall off. I was incredibly gentle, as I am used to doing this kind of work. Each frame lost about four of the pieces holding them in place. I live in The BX and the gallery is in the BX, clearly returning to this store on Jay St. was not an option. If it wasn't bad enough that the attitude of the owner was gross and repugnant, now I have frames that are made more poorly than IKEA, but I'm out $250. I called the owner to tell him of the issue and he could not care less. PLEASE. DO. NOT. SHOP. HERE. If quality is what you're after. This guy and his team are rude, lazy, and will make you extremely valueless frames. For all that, go to IKEA...
