I came to this place August 5th to get my first ever wax done because it was affordable, the commute was convenient and the reviews were great, it was a 4.9 at the time when I came across this location. I wanted to try waxing because every person I know all told me the same thing - ā Itās so worth it ā, ā It will change your life ā. So, I gave in. Everyone told me that waxing is gonna hurt regardless for the first time but eventually it will get better. Rafaela was super sweet on the phone and in person. I went and of course I was super anxious because I didnāt expecting some pain and donāt know if I was gonna tolerate it or not. She let me taste the wax which was good and thatās how I knew it was organic and safe to use. As she started and took off some parts of the hair it was super painful and I felt super uncomfortable. She didnāt talk to me at all, she is heavy handed in my opinion so i felt like that made it hurt even more. I thought it was rude of her to have the audacity to tell me I need to relax. I mentioned to her this is my first time and Iām nervous and yet she still was trying to get it done. I wouldāve appreciated if she wouldāve paused and asked me if Iām ready again to make me feel at ease but instead she tells me ā Mami, you gotta let me finish. I have another client behind you. ā At that point I felt like I had to force myself to tolerate the pain. I had to stop a few times and when I did she made annoyed faces with me. I honestly couldnāt finish even tho I was practically bald with little hair left. She then tells me that it would be best to come back 3 days later so she can finish and that way the skin can get used to it. That was the only time I felt somewhat comfortable. I came back like she said and let her finish. She used tweezers which hurt as well but I stuck it through. I gave her a $7 tip in the end because I felt like it was nice of her to tell me letās stop for now and come back. I got home and she left hair in the inside. I went back yesterday 8/29 to give her the benefit of the doubt and see if I would have a better experience. This time I let her finish but what hurt more this time was the tweezers, she was being rough and I can tell she was pinching my skin to get the ingrown hairs. She made another face to me when she spoke to me in Spanish saying turn around to get the back and I told her I donāt speak Spanish. I went home took a shower and seen a couple of red bumps from where she was being super rough and heavy handed then today I noticed I have scratches almost all over, it looks unpleasant to me and Iām so disappointed. I donāt think I would ever...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI came here in May looking for a cheaper alternative to SugaringNYC and boy do I regret it. The lady is very sweet and reassuring but she was super heavy handed. I felt like I was back at EWC (which is not good at all for sugaring). I left that day and saw my peach and enjoyed it. The next day I looked at it and I still had a bunch of hair on my left lip and inside of both sides. I knew it hadn't grown back already because they were long. It is now August and I have yet to get another wax because I got these two HUGE ingrown hairs that just won't go away no matter what I do. That's 2 months and a couple weeks that I've had these ingrown hairs. Mind you, I've never experienced ingrowns in any sugaring facility. I'm so disappointed and my peach is hurting rn :( Hopefully I can get rid of these ingrowns so I can finally get another wax but...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreAmazing experience! The owner of this place is super accommodating and she makes sure you are comfortable before starting anything. It was my first time and she explained the entire process and even made me try the sugar wax to prove that it can be eaten because it has no chemicals. The wax worked great for my SUPER DUPER sensitive skin ( i literally have bled at other places and have been burned by hot wax before) I didn't feel sticky, irritated or like i needed an ice pack afterwards or irritated or like i needed a crazy hot shower and ice pack afterwards. The place is a bit small but that can be expected for a NYC location! For someone who has gotten maybe a hundred waxes in her life i am beyond happy with this place and will continue to come back and would recommend anyone who wants to try sugar wax without going into the city...
