I’m here every day spending $30+ (honestly my mistake it’s just close by so I go out of convenience) it’s never been good but today took the cake, TWO NOT ONE BUT TWO employees stood next to me as if I was going to steal (once again I’m here everyday and I pay for everything and that’s saying ALOT as their produce usually isn’t fresh!) they stood there watching me and as soon as I went to pay they mo. ved. As I went to type this review I saw another similar review and realize this is a regular occurrence there’s a million better supermarkets in this neighborhood and I’ll be taking my business there and honestly so should you it isn’t worth the racial profiling. Also their prices aren’t reasonable they had 2 sticks of butter for $3.50 and 4 sticks for $9 same brand same everything but it’s cheaper if u buy 2 or 2 instead of the 4 pack and I have seen this throughout the store, usually when u buy more the price goes down a few cents or it’s the exact price per unit but not here! Oh don’t get me started on the 28 oz adobo “ON SALE FOR $5” I got 2 16.5 oz adobos for 2.50 each same price but I got 33oz! Also they cannot take constructive criticism, when a customer complained about the butter they talked about him like he was crazy in Spanish and then banned him from the store (goes without saying he was black). Honestly not worth it many times over today was the last time I make the mistake of going to this poor excuse for a...
Read moreThis is a nice grocery store that seems to have a great selection of products and produce most everyone would usually shop for ... however, I noted that like many places, the products themselves have been sitting on the shelf for quite awhile. And, if you don’t look closely enough for an expiration date depending on what it is you’re buying— or look more closely at what’s inside the bottles— you’ll find things caked up and old. Or drier when eating it, because it hasn’t been pulled off since it’s there to be sold. Like the shelf life is forever and ever, literally.
On the other hand it is really quite an upscale supermarket for its size and location. They have great staples though, depending on what it is you’re exactly looking for may be more surprising. One area that is in short supply of is Vegan frozen products (meatless, chicken, etc.). Not much to choose from. And kosher meat.
Just a cautionary if you’re not used to shopping outside of a regular food chain store in the boroughs !! Very different from say a “Whole Foods” or Food Bazaar in your neighborhood or a kosher grocery place with really good baked goods.
Otherwise, very fun...
Read moreMy boyfriend and I went on our regular store run this past weekend at Extra Jumbo by Antillana. We purchased 3 lbs of oxtails only to discover that we were given 3 lbs of rotten chuck steak labeled as “oxtails.” We kindly spoke to the manager on the night shift about the rotten chuck steak the butcher gave to us but she said she could not do anything about it and proceeded to pretend to call the general manager of the supermarket only to receive the...
